a 50 limit in the whole tunnel? Looks very slow. 70 would be better.

It's a city tunnel. And it's not a freeway.
So, the 50km/h doesn't seem inadequate to me.

Driving in Vasco da Gama bridge, A 12 motorway, IC 3 freeway and National road 118.

Some pics i took last friday while driving from Lisbon to Porto Alto.

In the 17,2 Km Vasco da Gama bridge.

This is where the bridge ends

After crossing the bridge i entered the A 12 motorway.

After that i went to the IC 3 freeway, in Porto Alto direction.

Here the freeway ends and turns into te National road 118.

The N 118 heading to Porto Alto.

The view alongside the road.

Thanks for the pics! I'll post them on the Dutch Autosnelwegen forum if you don't mind.

I am missing some important destinations on the signs. I would add Badajoz of even Madrid for the A6 direction, instead of Évora.

Unfortunately, here in Portugal (same in Spain) we don't show cities from other countries in our road signs. Only the name of the countries. For example, on the A6 you will see signs indicating Spain.

Example:

Under Yugoslavia we used to do the same, now we post city names. Personally, I don't mind either, but I guess for tourists it's a lot easier having a city name instead of a country name.

The pictures are wonderful, though! Just one thing, instead of Porto Alto, you could've gone to the Algarve, the name was even written nicely in capital letters.. Mmm.. Lagos..

It's written in capital letters because Algarve is the name of a region, not of a city.

Yeah you drive near Zagreb and see "Slovenija" or something like that. Then you don't know if that is to Maribor, Ljubljana or even Postojna! Thank god that is better know.

Portugal and Spain should to the same.

Well, it depends. Now, on the AP-7 you can find Perpignan as destination instead of Francia/França. And you can also find in Irún on the N-I Bordeaux on the signposts. I don't know the case of the border between Portugal and Spain.

Well, that's good news!

But on the portuguese border, I've allways seen signs indicating Portugal, not any portuguese city (for example on A-55 (Vigo-Portugal), A-62, or A-49 it allways indicates Portugal.

Good old times; a 1998 map from the Dutch automobilist association of Portugal. Notice that there are very few Autoestradas back in the late nineties.

Yup!

Btw, about that country/city direction signs.. The city is named only on motorways and expressways and long-distance signs, otherwise if in the vicinity of the border and on a normal road, it just says the country name. For example here in Nova Gorica, it always says Italy, never Gorizia.

Okay, I'll shut up now.
