Okay, so the big construction site is Ashok Towers, but what's that tall building in the distance?

I like the way the Kalpataru building has used its parkingrack: Build a tennis court on top of it!

What if the tennis ball falls down and they had to go all the way down to get it coz the skinny boys down there did not have enough strength to throw it back up there ?

There is a net around the court (about 15 feet high)....besides the guys living there must be rich enough to care for a few balls going above them...

Tennis courts on top of parking buildings are actually now very common, everyone's doing it, even in relatively lower end projects.

Naval Base at Mumbai.

Makes one wonder about President Kalam said about publicly available satellite images...

more power to the people i say! its a good thing imo, the technology available in other countries and easily accessible to anyone will probably push the indian government to have less 'secrets'. only a short-sighted bureaucrat would think people having easy access to information is wrong

besides a person who wants to obtain the images for illegal purposes can probably get them anyways. any stupid law will only make it difficult for innocent citizens

That photo is by Apurva Desai and it is Mindspace in Malad. Barclays does have a call centre there.

Here is a cool photo by Apurva Desai. Hopefully he doesn't mind the posting of this pic. He has a beautiful gallery of India in webshots..

I agree that the availability of information will discourage a lot of wrong practices, like, for example, what happened in Bosnia or Ruwanda, but it wouldn't be correct to totally write-off the President's concerns because there is also the trouble that the wrong people get hold of vital info, like the inside layout of BARC! In the end, it comes down to the ol' ol' debate, the right to know.....

a little more awareness of national security will give us a better idea of what information needs to be out there and what needs to be protected.

Ajay is right, the Navi Mumbai airport's current design was spiked because it was in direct flight of the BARC, and it was correct. That center is the nerve center of this nation's nuclear progress.

The information needed by most common citizens for greater awareness is probably already incorporated in the RTI act. There are reports that Google Earth might be used by terrorists in J&K and elsewhere to plan their attacks out.

Google Earth doesn't have pics of such high resolution such as the one above when it comes to the White House, the Pentagon or for that matter other important places in the US. Why the hell should pics of highly secret facilities in India be on it?

I see no reason why the Gov't shouldn't do something with this issue.

There are detailed pics of us govt sites and military bases as well, to say nothing of any other country. The naval base in Mumbai can easily be seen from any tall building or landing aircraft. And, really, this kind of imagery at 1m resolution is publically available to any and everybody.

What google earth has done is bring this capability to the masses. The pros far outweigh the cons, and technology cannot be stopped, nor should it. India ain't China.
