sad display of bowling and fielding by Bangladesh while Ireland batting was impressive.

BD is losing this game. I've said this over and over...it's like a cycle. If BD wins one, they have to lose at least 3-4 games in a row before another win. And, I predicted that that losing cycle may end after the world cup..and it seems to be going that way...
Anyway, let's not give bowlers too much flak because they've done well in almost every game so far. If they don't perform as well in a game or two, the batsmen need to take some responsibility, which they sadly haven't in most games. Still, it is a young line-up and hopefully they'll improve with time and experience. I just hope it wasn't the case that they underestimated Ireland because that's just foolish. |

Don't be disheartened. Take this as a learning curve for the tigers. |

Oh look who's here. I guess someone's finally gotten over the embarassment of having been dumped out of the World Cup in the first round by us... Sorry we forgot about you my friend, it's been a long time since we beat you guys and moved on to play better teams in the Super 8s. Oh, we beat South Africa and gave England a pretty good scare. Just letting you know... ![]() Isn't it amazing what a bunch of teenagers and guys in their early 20s from Bangladesh can do? I'm sorry all your guys in their 30s with all the experience from their hundreds of games couldn't cut it....sad really.. Well better luck next time bud! Hey...tell you what? We'll even take it easy on you when you tour Bangladesh...just to help boost your morale. No need to thank us...it's the least we can do for such wonderful and accomodating neighbors..

Well, I expected a win over Ireland...but we definitely need to be better at batting.

Ireland and Bangladesh were kind of similar...talented but inconsistent. So I wasn't too suprised when Ireland beat us...for both teams it was really a matter of who showed up on a given day....Dr. Jeckyl or Mr. Hyde. The right personality showed up for Ireland and the wrong one for us.
Although I think they could have done better, I think that if we had known before the start of this tournament how far BD would go then we would have been quite happy. Now what they need to do is develop their self discipline...particularly how not to crumble under pressure batting in the early overs. The most promising factor for us is the the age of the players. As all the these guys in their late teens and early twenties mature, the consistency which is lacking today may well be realized. That bodes well for the next ten years. |

Bad news: Whatmore is leaving. I guess the lure of coaching India was a factor. Either that or it was the Bangladesh Cricket Board's actions after his comments about coaching India. After all he did for Bangladeshi cricket, he couldn't have been happy with the way the Board reacted to his comments. His parting words: Whatmore do you want??

I don't mind him going to India, but to announce his intentions while we were still contending in the World Cup, was unprofessional. I wish him the best, but I look forward to a day when we can have a world class home-grown coach.
