Looks like a nice system. What's the length of the line? Future alignments, etc?

Systra to provide assistance for the Algiers metro

Entreprise du Métro d’Alger (Algiers Metro Company - EMA) has awarded the SYSTRA /RATP Development consortium the contract to provide assistance with the follow-up of design studies, installation and fitting out of fixed equipment for all systems on line 1 phase 1 of the Algiers metro. This includes stations, rolling stock and workshops.

Phase 1 runs from Tafourah Grande Poste station to Haï El Badr eastbound, through 11km of tunnel, the main construction of which is already near completion. The line has 10 stations, which are also nearing completion, but which still need to be completely equipped. It also includes the high voltage substation, the control centre and the partly-completed Bachdjarah maintenance complex.

- The SYSTRA / RATP Development consortium is therefore responsible for follow-up, inspection and co-ordination of the construction of the whole transport system.

The work is expected to take 60 months, including the guarantee period of 24 months.

In the event of commercial operation not being awarded to an external operator, the contract also contains an option for the preparation of and assistance with operation to be managed by RATP Development. Specifically, the consortium will be appointed to manage the following activities for a period of 5 years :

- preparation for operation of the first stage of line 1,

- technical assistance with the operation and maintenance of the metro once commercial service has begun.
