There is also a Dhaka thread in the photo forums. It got around 3000 visitors in one month Replies and no. of views show that people have interest in our city's development

Realistically, can I expect all of the projects shown here to be completed by 2009?

Also, how much of a role does the Grameen bank have in Bangladesh's recent development? I'm curious since they go around setting up credit unions and stuff like that to empower the poor and thus putting them on the road to eventually investing in such projects.

hmm, there are some nice projects there, but you posted pics too of buildings with 6 or 8 story's. Not really impressive pics for a area with 16 million people. But its good to see Dhaka is booming

Grameen really doesn't invest much in buildings or other such projects. Their main focus is t eradcae poverty and with respect to that they ve played a huge part in reducing the number of people without food to zero and other such projects. I guess rameen does have an indirect role in the boom since they help build the economy from the ground up which in turn, raises the entire nations economy and in turn creates more business opportunities for the companies funding these projects.

The short buildings i posted were mainly of buildings that i thought were really unique or trying stuff not tried in other countries. And also you should be expecting more large scale projects soon. Right now there aren't that many because the nation is in election mode.
