Actually there was smoke coming out from all along the corner of the building, not just the top.

And I remember seeing chunks of stuff falling out the sides of the building too.

Ouch! Good thing they haven't started the interiors yet (or did they?). It's kinda awful if you have this incidence when the construction is almost completed. I hope this will not delay the construction for weeks or even months.

Time is most definitely money with a skyscraper, which is why I think they won't let this incident slow down construction. I think they can still continue the top portion of the building since the fire most likely didn't effect it. They will just have to order more cladding and clean up the interior some. I imagine smoke marks on glass and concrete are a pain to clean up. Thankfully no one was hurt and this wasn't something like an explosion.

Smoke on glass can't be anything...but did these sort of incidents happen with JinMao next door, back in the middle-'90s..?

Bad news, and looks pretty serious, though it only lasted about an hour. Lets hope they manage to continue the construction without a big delay on several weeks if thats the case.

Work started again at top of the building this morning, so I think construction is not on hold.

This building, wether you like it or not, is going to be topped and and completed, end of story. So don't act like it's the end of the world.

Actually fire took place in the most crucial part of the structure. Those corner collums/elevator shafts are anchorpoints in terms of building stability; so some structural integrety study definately should be made..

Well, if the temporary structure is done, we'll see rising the columns first up to levels 100/101, then the construction of the top bridge/bracing will begin.

If construction doesn't slow down, it can be done within 2-3 weeks.
