What with the area at the top the square just below the roof? I always thought a restaurant would be a good idea for that area coupled with the observation deck.

Obeservation deck at floor 100. There will be two, at fl 96 ("bridge" at the bottom of hole) and fl 100 (over the hole).

Level 101 plant floor I think.

That's cool, thanks for the explanation. Level 100 would be the perfect observation deck to view Shanghai.

Not for long. The number 2 spot in Shanghai will be occupied by SWFC in just a few years.

Holy crap...you could say it's going up even faster than the Burj Dubai cuz it's only the skeleton, but this one actually looks like a skyscraper, not just a bunch of empty floors!

Was this photo actually PSed? Why does the color/tone look so weird and sort of vintage-looking?

It can have a multitude of reasons,
- First the picture is taken in the morning there can be strange light then.
- Second is camera quality, if it's bad colors can go all weird.
- It's probably taken from a helicopter or airplane through a window. If the glass was foul it works as a filter.
- Last, It could happened during the processing of the picture on the computer to make it more viewable. The original picture could have been to dark or not sharp.
(or all of the above reasons)

Anyway after a small lesson in photography (I'm not an expert) I have to say it's an amazing picture, thanks Skymyhusband for finding it and posting it here!

Yes, that's the typical result using sharpness/colour/brightness/contrast filters on a bad quality shot.

You can see it in the saturated blue (shadowed) areas.

Anyway, I agree, that's a great shot, unusual to see Pudong from the air and up to date!
