the concept is just to remove those lowrises and plan for an office area with some green space

it seems aesthetically pleasing to me. right now you've got a chaos of low rise and dirty streets with few open areas. the new development is good city planning if you ask me.

i hope that pudon 2nd phase project will have more walkability than the first phase. the area near jin mao and wfc is not pedestrian-friendly at all.

I was born in shanghai and i grew up there. Now i am in Auckland; i go visit shanghai for a month about twice a year.

those night shots of pudong are amazing. proves to skeptics that there is indeed a very high occupancy rate and that skyscrapers are built for need. it wasn't always like this though, 6-7 years back, i remember how buildings in pudong were dark or lit by external light (as opposed to these pics where the buildings are lit by occupation light)
