i'm quite sure that the SWFC can withstand a quite heavy earthquake without any damage

Yes, the structure is very "robust", Structural engineer is Leslie E. Robertson, formerly invovled in WTC project...

The structure can whitstand anything... If you look at the base, it's a real bunker to resist any attack, steel reinforced megacolumns + huge trusses for mechanical/refuge floors, anything secured... not to see New York WTC disaster again.

Even though SWFC was constructed very strong, Shanghai is a flat alluvial plain which means a strong earthquake can easily damage the skyscrapers location. The ground is very soft and weak. SWFC's strength may not be enough to stand against an earthquake.

Beautiful. This has probably been asked before, are those green lights on top of the building going to be the permanent light fixture? I wonder how the building is supposed to look at night when fully completed and all tenants have moved in.

Seeing as it is nearly complete, is SWFC on budget and on schedule?

I guess it is on schedule if it is linked into the start of the olympics.

Last row of cladding started on the very top (a few panels already installed on the right side).

^It totally overpowers the Jin Mao (?) tower infront of it. They should not have placed the two so close together.

The event should not be linked to the schedule of this tower in any way. Shanghai is, afterall, quite a distance away from Beijing.

its a beautiful building ! i love the glass

just a shame the circle feature was replaced by the bottle opener feature ! The circle was much better suited than the new design, but who gives a shit i suppose....

The circle had to be changed because it resembles Japanese flag. It didn't fit China.
