Yup, MI:III used Shanghai as a backdrop for some of its scenes. DYK: I remember reading somewhere that some moviegoers actually thought it was a computer generated city since it looked so futuristic! Yea Shanghai!

It's necessary on "refuge" floor, as mechanical ventilation (air conditioning) could be out under fire, for exemple.

There are such floors every 12 levels in this structure.
Thanks for the info. I thought that these would be related to ventilation but wasn't sure.

Those are Shanghai International Finance Center twin towers, by Cesar Pelli. Main tower is 260m, 60 floors and second tower is 250m, 58 floors. First proposal was 320m twin towers, 70 floors each, but they reduced it.

I love the raised section of cladding on the curving sides of the tower. It just adds that extra dimension.

What a great tower, oh my.. The only fact i dont like so much is its so close to Jin Mao. But however, when they build up more scrapers in that area, it will look fine raising above them!

Am I the only one who thinks they should have designed the Jin Mao to look like a beer bottle?
