Not really an update per se (although we are not too spoiled with close ups of the base of the tower here), but I'm doing a photography project that includes the SWFC, and here's two shots (taken today) from it.

The "stone cladding" around the base of the tower is genius. Absolutely brilliant.

Thank Jesus that marble brick things at the bottom didn't take up the surface all the way up, or it would look bizarre...

I think the advantage for these skyscrapers that face typhoon every summer is that they get autmoatic clean up once in a while. BTW has any typhoon hit China this year or is there any in process in the south heading north toward Shanghai?

Does anyone know why the "sun shading" bars are missing from that section above the hole? It looks weird and unsymmetrical.

Not enough of those supplies and maybe have to wait for a while.

I really wonder though how they stick thosw sun shaders on the space between the glasses. I first thought 'welding' but then the tower would be black by now (or whatever blue glasses turn into when hit be sparks) therefore I don't know.

buildmilehightower,

Shanghai is currently feeling the "leftovers" of the ongoing Taiwan typhoon.

If you look carefully in the photo above, SWFC is bending slightly (dodgy cam again)
