Views from the top to cost 150 yuan

2008-8-19

SHANGHAI World Financial Center, the third-tallest building in the world, will open its observatory deck on the 100th floor for 150 yuan (US$22) per person on August 30.

The deck is 474 meters above sea level and promises breathtaking views of Shanghai, provided visitors go when skies are clear.

The deck eclipses the city's other main venues – the Oriental Pearl Tower at 263 meters and the 88th floor of Jin Mao Tower at 341 meters – for panoramic views.

Tickets for Shanghai World Financial Center's two other observatory decks on the 94th and 97th floors will cost 100 yuan and 110 yuan each respectively, according to Shanghai Morning Post. They are 423 meters and 439 meters above sea level.

The Pudong skyscraper has already opened for wedding banquets even though construction of the building has not quite finished. The Park Hyatt Shanghai, which occupies the 79th to 93rd floors of the tower, is scheduled to open on September 1, the report said.

More and more companies have opened offices in the high-rise but catering services have yet to start, but the report added that shuttle buses link the tower with nearby Super Brand Mall and the HSBC building.

To ensure safety of the building and the people inside, powerful emergency security equipment has been installed, a previous report said.

Loudspeakers can reach every corner of the structure so that office staff and hotel guests can be informed of an emergency in time and the building can be evacuated quickly. Twelve floors are designed as fire shelters and two exterior lifts will serve as escape passages in case of an emergency.

What an amazing building, I've been following its progress for the past few years. Can't wait to visit the sky decks when I go there in October, will definitely bring my dslr with me and share my photos with you guys.

Does the 100th floor have a glass floor? If my photos come out blurry you can blame it on my mild fear of heights.

I think its cheap for westerners but for chinease it maybe very expensive. We can get about $50 worth of watch in America which would be like $2 in China.

That photo probaly taken by the window cleaners by where its taken from, definately cheap and I'll go there after burj dubai, definately.

"Com"

Congrats to Shanghai on the competion, what a wonderful building.

And i agree on the good price - you pay a lot more for other, far more boring, sight seeing places.

It's indeed not very cheap for the local habitants. But of course the Chinese want to make profit of it by letting the tourists pay much more.

Well, 95% or so of the tourists will be Chinese, so it will be as expensive for them anyway.
However, 100 RMB shouldn't be THAT much - the Shanghainese in particular have to realize that they can't enjoy first world standards while still only paying 5 RMB for a meal forever. Prices are going to increase a lot soon.

The observation deck is said to open at Aug 30, but the official opening should be at Sept. 1st.

A little expensive, but it's worth it with the stunning view and glass floor! But if you have more than one person going, it's quite expensive, I can't go there repeatedly then. By the time I go to Shanghai in 2014 (HSR, lol, i'm just cheap that way instead of taking a plane), I can see the stunning SWFC glass floor, then look at Shanghai Center soaring above it, then go to the amazing 600m (I hope) observatory! Visiting Shanghai with this building complete will really be an amazing experience!
