For those of you who have stayed in Jin Mao, how much does one need to pay to get an average room?

Check their page. 321.11 USD for their 'Grand Room'. And from there it goes upwards of 600 USD for normal rooms.

That's your one research freebie from me.

for similar experience stay in Le Meridian or JW Marriott in Puxi, both of which have lobbies around floor 40 and go up to about floor 80 or so.

yes you won't get out of there for anything under US$400. Great hotel but ridiculously priced considering it's in the middle of nowhere (Pudong).

Great video. I was waiting for something like that. I wonder who has taken the photos though? I think credits are in place...

Tallest tower to open on Saturday

By Dong Zhen | 2008-8-27 | NEWSPAPER EDITION

SHANGHAI World Financial Center, the world's third-tallest skyscraper due to open on Saturday, will have the world's fastest elevators, said its builder.

Elevators will travel at 10 meters per second in the 492-meter landmark tower at Lujiazui, said Shanghai Construction Group. Visitors will be lifted to the tower's observatory on the 94th floor in several minutes.

Three observatory levels will be open, from the 94th floor at 423 meters above the ground to the 97th and 100th floors.

The highest observatory, named Sky Pavilion, is 472 meters above sea level and provides a bird's-eye view of the city's complete skyline.

On the 85th floor will be the world's highest swimming pool, part of the hotel that will occupy floors 78 to 93.

And the world's highest Chinese restaurant will open on the 93rd story of the building.

saturday...

This one probaly has 3rd fastest elevator after taipei 101 and burj dubai. But depends really because the elevator speed vary when ascending and descending but I'm sure this speed is referring to ascending speed. I know taipei 101's ascending speed is 16.83 metres per second, burj dubai on the other hand is 18 metres per second (at both ascending and descending, but usually descending is faster)

SWFC: 10 metres per second
taipei 101: 16.83 metres per second
Burj dubai: 18 metres per second.

And by saturday we should expect to see tidy up in the external cladding appearance and etc...
