Hi all.

Wow - that second last pic above really shows just how big this thing is by showing how long the observation deck is.

Opening Saturday - another milestone reached in the history of skyscrapers.

Great building.

Observation deck looks nice!

Wish it wasn't built too close to the Jin Mao though.

25 Australian dollars would make 150yuan or 15euros. How many of the 1.3 bil Chinese can afford it?

So Jin Mao's observation deck is half the price of SWFC? I think only foreigners will go for this one.

Unless you want to see the top of the SWFC from the outside, so you will have to visit the Jin Mao Tower.

There are also many poor foreigners and rich Chinese.

I think, they want to be not only the highest observation deck on Earth, but also the most expensive one, or maybe they think 2 decks x 75 yuan = 150?

101 in Taipei costs 400 Taiwan dollars, 8 euros, 80 yuan. I don't remember more how much I paid for NY's WTC. What about the Petronas towers?

The observation deck is really expensive.

The highest observation deck of the Tokyo Tower costs just 11€.

I doubt it that they will be extreme succesful. You have the observation deck of the Pearl Tower and Jin Mao, too.

It's really too expensive, especially considering drink in bar 65 on the 65th floor at Le Royal Meridian in Puxi, which has a much better view, is only 50RMB.

Also, SWFC is at the edge of Pudong highrises, meaning half of the view facing east does not have too much to see at all. Before SWFC, that is already the reason why I never wanted to go to the observation deck of Jinmao.

The space deck (?) of the Pearl Tower has a much better view of both Puxi and the two towers.

150yuan is too expensive comprared with the 70yuan of Jinmao, as the OB-deck of SWFC is not facing the densest part of Puxi, Jinmao has a better view of the Puxi skyline.

3 observation decks in the vicinity ... Jin Mao, Oriental Pearl, and now SWFC.

Shanghai to open world's highest sightseeing hall to public
26 August 2008
Agence France Presse

The world's highest sightseeing hall, located on the 100th floor of China's tallest skyscraper, will open to the public on Saturday, local media reported.

The hall is 474 metres (1,555 feet) above the ground in the Shanghai World Financial Centre, the Oriental Morning Post reported Tuesday.

Sightseers who want a bird's eye view of the city will have to pay 150 yuan (22 dollars) each for the experience, it said.

The building, finished earlier this year but not yet open to the public, has 101 floors for a total height of 492 metres, making it the tallest in China.

As well as the observation deck, the building will also have a luxury hotel, shops and 70 floors of office space, the centre's website says.

Until now, the highest similar venue has been the Sky Pod of the CN Tower in Toronto, at 447 metres high.
