2% vacancy rate is VERY low; average vacancy rate in the US major cities is about 10%.
Shanghai needs a lot more office buildings and fast.

Northern_Lotus,
Vacancy rates are at "critical levels" in the major Chinese cities. Unfortunately, as z0rg mentioned, many new large Shanghai projects have been finalized during this year, which will ease the market a bit.

Just look back a few pages, anyway, there are 3 observation decks, 100RMB ($15), 150RMB ($22.5), and 200RMB ($30). The 200RMB one has the glass floor, which actually doesn't look that stunning to me because the bottom of the hole is just 20m below, so not so scary. 100RMB seems like a great deal, it has huge windows, plus the view isn't any worse.

OMG...look one page back. Take a look at the graphs that were posted. They show a vacancy rate of 2%.

The vacancy rate in 2008 has rebounded to 5%~ because of the many large projects finished. Fortunately Shanghai is building tons of stuff now, so there wont be a shortage of A grade offices crisis or whatever. Some second tier cities like Shenyang or Chongqing have serious problems with the lack of A grade offices, no wonder why they are planning mega projects like crazy there.
