wow, really nice picture!
I hope they are not going to "upgrade" those normal houses there with more skyscrapers. Cause having such islands with areas of low structure completely surrounded by tall buildings makes the city kinda attractive. And telling by their looks I suppose living there is not cheap.

I disagree, I feel like they do need to be upgraded but not with skyscrapers. IMO a better idea would be to build canyons of mid-rise (6 to 8 stories) Baroque or Neo-Classical buildings as to complement the European characteristics of Shanghai.

Some of that small "houses" dates back to 1900s, so it's already history and it should definitely be preserved.

That photo is funny, in a way that we can't see top part of jin mao's spire and its looks so much shorter than in real life. Now I'm starting to sympathise for the people working in jin mao, what motivation do they have to be in that tower when SWFC is the new hot in town.

Then I fell asleep in her arms.
That was happiness then.

Beautiful ! Night shot from bridge above street is one of the best. SFWC looks there like a 600-meter-tall skyscraper considering Jin Mao´s 421m... Perspective trick !

No. That is just Pudong's skyline, and while it contains the very tallest buildings it's just a small fraction of Shanghai's high rise which is mostly out-of-picture to the right.

of course i know, im from shanghai myself XD

but its really hard to find a picture that really contains all of shanghai's skyline..

because shanghai's highrises spread in such a great area, its really hard to get a "european skyline" shot

I'd say that's the Lujiazui skyline...

This one portrays the Nanjing Xi Lu / People's Square / Huangpu / Lujiazui skylines pretty well. Not even this view is representable for the Shanghai skyline madness though. Photos simply don't do it justice.
