Isn't fusion power quite dangerous though?

not the place for this discussion but why not:

fusion is not "unsafe" but it is not a ready technology. There are several tokomaks in the world researching the possibilities of fusion power, yet none have generated useful energy (ie more than was put in to create the reaction). ITER the big international fusino project being constructed in France will aim to be the first fusion station to generate energy, yet this is not gonna be finished for at least 10 years. So fusion is a long way off and cant be seen as a sollution to the worlds energy crisis yet.

As for fission it is the safest, cleanest form of power in history by a very very long way. The problem is mainly due to how to get rid of the radioactive waste and the minute chance of a meltdown. However the death toll from meltdowns like chernobyl is greatly exagerated, with some estimates saying 10s of thousands and other (more accurate ones) saying around 50 people. But if you look at how many coal miners have died over the last hundred years, the fission safety starts to look pretty damn impressive. China would definately benefit from fission power.

The only trouble with nuclear is that while power plant emissions are minimal the process of mining and processing the Uranium into useful forms releases about 75% as much CO2 per Megawatt Hour as you get from a coal burning plant. To be clean like even the Hydrogen economy it needs a base of clean power on which to build.

Yeah, that, and I just don't really think so many should be toying around with so much nuclear power. You never know when something could go wrong.

Perhaps I'm just being paranoid, but that's kind of how I am.

Does anyone know if the property/retail values for Jin Mao will drop after SWFC is completed? Since it won't be the tallest unobstructed view in that area?
