Sorry if this has been asked before but why did they change from the circular hole to the more square 1 ?

Yes, a gazillion times ....but in short, the Chinese Government thought the circular represented the Japanese flag too much, esp. with the sun beaming through, so to a square it has been changed. Wartime sensitivities etc.

I also prefer the square hole. I think this is my favorite of the super biggies currently under construction.

Yes, some more floors, then big skylobby at level 94, then upper structure.

are the elevator shafts at the sides? coz if not it would be hard to go to the floors on the sides ( and uppermost floor) of the hollow at the top?

There will be two elevator shafts in each corner to go straight up to the top.

Those corners are straight vertical to the top, check the design

There are 4 corners in a square...

the drawing ive looked at shows no elevator going to the top with the top floor under the hollow portion. And yea look at the building theres 4 square corners on the top.

Of course general public can go up directly from the elevators on the sides. I am sure there will be a fee though.
