Not yet, I think. 2 more levels before the "hole"

What is under construction now is external framing (near the corners) of level 93. The hole framing will start at level 95.

Totally shit day, but I posted these just to show that they've started on the hole. It should be a fun summer watching it come together.

Next levels, 93 & 94, will be large open space with high ceiling (level 94 will be a large exhibition room).
I said it a few weeks ago, we have now 2 steel frame "cores", one at each corner, but the hole will start at top of level 94.

Let's wait some days to see what happens, though

I made a quick projection to help understanding the construction process:

Not very well scaled, sorry. The level95 mark must be a bit higher. Just to give the idea.

Thanks Giallo for the pic

heard there was an accident on this building... some cladding are severely damage and have to be replaced. the problem is, if they will go with conventional way of replacing it, they will have to remove and unisntall 1,000 units of cladding.. tsk tsk tsk, thats at 50 unit s a day thats 200 days delay.

Or maybe the source that told him that they would be removing one of the old rows of cladding from the Burj Dubai...which they haven't done. Or possibly the source that gave him evidence that the height of the Burj Dubai had been increased to 900 meters...evidence he has not been able to produce. I would wait until an unimpeachable source backs up this story.

96 is the observation bridge, above 95 which will not be public access I think (bottom of the hole, open air). 96 is linked up with 94 through a big inner mechanical staircase.

97,98 & 99 are only "steps" on the lateral columns of the hole (I think some plant floors, no public access). Most of the space here will be occupied by elevator shafts and service/emergency staircases.

101 is the big last level at the top, will be a plant floor.
