Hardly. It still has quite a height to go. It is only approx. 425m ATM, so another 67m to be constructed....and then there are the internal works which will take a long time to complete. On top of that, the cladding has to be completed, especially where the crane has been lodged the whole height of the tower.

I think it's now 430m+ @ level 95/96.

It's the last step before the so much expected hole

Hey Skymyhusband

Do you know if the observatories will be accessed by glass elevators? I thought I saw a diagram showing two glass elevators on each of the vertical sides of the building. If so would the same elevators be going from the main observatory to the upper skybridge? Restaurant?

Thanks

Yes, those elevators on each "corner" will go straight to the top.

Conference rooms, offices and hotel will be deserved by elevators shafts in the concrete core + skylobbies.

Side "observatory" elevators could also be used in case of emergency to stop on every refuge floor (18, 30, 42, 54, 66, 78, 89).

pflo777, thanks for posting the video. Who took it, and what was the group of people doing up there without hardhats? What a great vantage point - looking down on the top of Jin Mao.

Always been a huge fan of Chicago architecture, but I think Shanghai might have surpassed the Windy City. SWFC is my favorite building under construction right now and those photos posted by Skycity007 are awesome!

I saw a commercial on the Discovery Channel today about a new show about BIG things... like skyscrapers... but in the commercial there was a strange line. What was strange is that they said (or at least hinted) that the SWFC was going to be the worlds tallest building... but it wont... upon completion it still is not going to be taller than Taipei 101... hmmmm either they are refering to roof height, they have info that SWFC will in fact be taller (which I highly doubt), or, most likely, they gave faulse information.

I think construction is now topped at level 96 > main terrace of the top aperture when completed.
Cladding started now on steel section

Next step is construction of the two lateral columns of the aperture... growing fast.
