Indeed I'm proud of my capital
Beautiful skyline, but unfortunately most of scrapers are spread on relatively big area. There are some really nice scrapers U/C or awaiting, that will condense skyline so in few years Warsaw should have strong place in European top3 ![]() Also city authorities take into account individual projects of spatial development for longer terms. Here you have one example (my favourite I think) Quote:

I know that the Palace of Culture hasn't been the most popular building in Warsaw for a long time. But it looks like it's nice and lit up at night. Has the perception changed any?

There's difference of opinions. Some would destroy it, another consider it as the best symbol of Warsaw. For years it has been symbol of russian oppression, now it's changing.
For me it should be preserved, because it's characteristical and combines features of American Art-Deco and Polish historism, but Parade Square surrounding it must be developed and build up with scrapers. Now Palace looks like a big stool in the middle of empty space

IMO the worst thing in palace was the fact when it was built in 1950s the whole central district was sacrificed - many old buildings was destroyed (many of them miraculously survived IIWW), and whats much more important - whole urban structure of city center ruined. But of course palace itself cant be blamed for this... Opinions about destroying it never were considered serious - now it's one of the symbols of Warsaw - as mermaid monument or king's castle.... and from 2007 palace has been written into polish heritage register... In fact personally I dont know even one person in Warsaw who doesnt like it...

No, this can't be! Almost 2 weeks and no update in the best thread?
![]() Interesting panorama showing central parts of Warsaw - both Old Town (by the Vistula river) and downtown (in the background). ![]() ( http://www.digart.pl/zoom/2066960/PO...TAKA_cz15.html ) Maybe not everything is perfectly visible, but it's just to show main parts of the city from a larger distance ![]() Unfortunately those commies ...
