Slussens framtid oviss enligt kritiker

Ombyggnaden av Slussen har lagts i malpåse av den nya ledningen i stadshuset menar både opposition och projektledaren för upprustningen. ”Vi får inga besked trots att vi är redo att köra”, säger ansvarig för Slussenprojektet till SvD.se. Men ansvarigt borgarråd håller inte med: ”Ingen skulle vara gladare än jag om vi kunde köra i gång”, säger Mikael Söderlund (m) till SvD.se.

Frågan om Slussens framtid har lagts i malpåse sedan den nya majoriteten tillträdde stadshuset, menar både oppositionen och projektledaren för Slussenprojektet.

- Vi hade kunnat ta upp ärendet i berörda nämnder i januari men det stoppades av Mikael Söderlund. Vi får inga besked trots att vi är redo att köra, säger Anders Roman, projektledare för Slussenprojektet till SvD.se.

Frågan om Slussens bristande konstruktion har diskuterats ända sedan åttiotalet.

Länge bedömde man att delar kunde repareras men på grund av dåligt underhållsrabete gjorde man i början av 2000-talet bedömningen att en ombyggnad var nödvändig.

I dag finns två förslag, det ursprungliga som vaskades fram i en arkitekttävling och som i huvudsak går ut på att riva Slussen och bygga nytt, och ett förslag för bevarande som kom till efter krav på alternativ som tar hänsyn till det kulturhistoriska arvet.

Nu planerar tjänstemännen att försöka få upp ärendet i april, vid nästa möte.

- Dagordningen dras 3-4 veckor innan och då bestämmer ordförande Mikael Söderlund om punkten tas upp eller inte. Hittills verkar han inte så angelägen, säger Anders Roman till SvD.se.

Men Mikael Söderlund (m), som sitter som ordförande i både trafik- och renhållningsnämnden och stadsbyggnadsnämnden håller inte med om kritiken.

- Ingen skulle vara gladare än jag om vi kom i gång. Jag väntar på tjänsteutlåtandet och sedan ska det upp till beslut, det är viktigt att vi kommer vidare, säger han till SvD.se.


Efter att stadsbyggnadskontoret nu gått igenom de två förslagen är nästa punkt på dagordningen alltså att presentera en lägesrapport så att politikerna ska kunna fatta beslut om ett så kallat programsamråd för detaljplan.

- Situationen är akut, och för varje dag processen inte fortlöper kostar underhållet en massa pengar. Dessutom är skadorna allvarliga. Hade Slussen inte legat där det ligger, mitt i en storstad hade man tvingats stänga av trafiken, säger Anders Roman till SvD.se.

Han får visst medhåll av Mikael Söderlund.

- Det är klart att situationen måste hanteras. Men poängen är att det är viktigt att vi tar hänsyn till alla konsekvenser av de två olika förslagen och sådant tar tid, säger han till SvD.se.

Även Jan Valeskog (s) ledamot i trafik- och renhållningsnämnden menar att Slussens framtid inte prioriterats av den nya majoriteten. Han tror att det handlar om politisk oenighet inom partiet och är orolig för vilket alternativ borgarrådet föredrar.

- Moderaterna har ingen samsyn medan vi i s ändå har enats kring det ursprungliga förslaget. Men processen måste komma vidare, medborgarna måste få säga sitt i ett programsamråd, säger han till SvD.se.

Sten Nordin (m), före detta oppositionsborgarråd och numera riksdagsledamot bekräftar att det råder olika meningar om Slussens framtid inom partiet.

- Jag var med och tryckte på att det behövdes ett referensförslag där man såg till att bevara så mycket som möjligt och inte bara bygga nytt. Men någon tydlig ställning tog jag inte och det har nog ingen annan riktigt gjort heller. Men det är viktigt att frågan går vidare så att ombyggnaden kan komma i gång, säger han till SvD.se.

Mikael Söderlund (m) vill inte låsa sig vid det ena eller det andra förslaget innan tjänstemännen presenterar sin genomgång.

- Men jag kan väl säga att jag inte tillhör de som bara vill se en återuppbyggnad av det gamla, jag tror att Slussen behöver förnyelse både vad det gäller trafiklösningar och form, säger han till SvD.se.

About the last thing posted in the old thread, new office buildings at Karolinska:
So true, those are just a stone's throw from the Stockholm/Solna border - which is ment to get redeveloped into urbanity. And yet this project gets the go-ahead despite its anti-urbanity. Shame realy. If done right it could have helped spread the Inner City all the way out to Norra Begravningsplatsen (which if surrounded by urbanity could be counted as part of that urbanity IMO).


They're still b!tching about Slussen? Aaaargh! give up on the whole preserving the old slussen already! the current one is ugly, anti-pedestrian, and IMO the only great thing about it is its complexity - you need to realy know it to understand where all the tunnels/walkways go to Seriously, lets get on with building the new one.

well the Karolinska Science Park is almost all the way up to norra begravningsplatsen, the ony thing between is an area with old english styled brick houses witch they will never toutch so urbanity will stop there anyway. same with the place i live. but ofcource they could atleast have tried even tho i like the new buildings.

but hopefull they will start with solna city soon and this part connected with norrabegravsningsplatsen, hagaparken and all rails behind KS will just be a small break between the two urban centers.

Yep, it's almost literally a stone's throw away from that border. It's soo close. In hindsight I got a bit disappointed and started wondering about the planned Skyscraper Area for Norra Stationsområdet (North Station Area). My God, that area is so barren and abandoned. It's taking up so much precious space, whenever I take bus #3 to Karolinska Hospital I get desperate to see that area so relinquished. They could have covered the marshalling yard ages ago and built Stockholm's new CBD on top of it. At the same it would integrate Stockholm with Solna, thus producing a conurbation in that direction. I think that we're tired by now of scattered, suburban type construction. Whether it's form of a suburban office complex kind of type and lots of things in between or a typical suburbian settlement area with LOTS of green areas in between.

Slussen is like our own eternity machine. We'll all end up having children, grand-children and so on and they'll be still fighting over Slussen, how it should and shouldn't look like.
I concur with you Swede about Slussen, apart from it being ugly, terribly dirty and a focal point for fights, it's really like a labyrinth with all its stairs, subways (like the yellow one) and other kind of passages. If it were more secure and cleaner I wouldn't mind recommending it to tourist families with children.

Tear Slussen down and build a completely new one! A new design for todays and tomorrows situation. Ok, there are always nostalgics but I have no respect for people (even professionals!) that seriously want the old design to be rebuilt.

Yes, what you say strengthens even more the arguments for demolishing it. Specially also considering that the poles upon which Slussen is built are actually rottening(!).

I have studied the two proposals thoroughly. My view is very clear after this. The arguments for keeping to old design are very weak I think. It's more or less nostalgia. Sure, the old Slussen is a peculiar structure with all these spaces in it's cavities. But what about the urban space??? This could be one of the nicest places in central Stockholm. Today I think it's one of the worst. And the reason for that is not mainly because the place is worn down.

But still... It's Slussen. Many Stockholmers sees this the same way as if someone wanted to tear down the old town because the buildings there aren't modern enough or the alleys aren't wide enough. They should keep all parts that can be repaired.

^But that's the thing - the whole Slussen is so crap that almost all of it HAS to be replaced. And the design, tho nice at the time, in no way reflects the needs of today. It is in fact way over-dimensioned for the amount of traffic it gets today, remember when it was built not only didn't Essingeleden exist, but it was built at the same time as Västerbron! So traffic-patterns have shifted tremendously since then.
The current opportunity to improve such a vital part of the Inner City shouldn't be stopped (for another 70 years) on the grounds of nostalgia for omething that's actually a bad situation.

That would be unnecessary since too many things have been posted in its precursors. It's neither to do such thing in SSC.

If you want to make yourself an idea of what has been posted you can always take a look at Stockholm Projects I & II. Simply as that.

Btw, the construction of the new floor on studentskrapan must be the slowest in swedish history. I mean how many months should it take to add one floor!?

Some Kista-news, Sollentuna mässan is gonna get moved to Kista. Not the building (duh), a new one will get built south of the street that continues on under the interstate and past Helenelund. So the new convention hall will be o nthe eastern edge of Kista, pretty close to the Pendeltåg.
