Iloilo airport looks really nice. I like the new bacolod airport but i think Iloilo looks nicer. The only thing with that i really think is a good idea in the new bacolod airport is that it has an observation deck atop of it's terminal building. DVO airport looks nice and clean, it has a different touch but when you talk about modernity, i would say Iloilo is the most modern looking and perhaps NAIA T2 and this new Bacolod airport would be second modernlooking to me IMO. Congratulations Philippines never the less!!!!

As an fyi- Pacific Pearl Airways, a new Philippine start-up airline arrived Subic yesterday afternoon. Photographs of the plane as she was being ferried and on the first leg of her island hopping journey can be seen at http://www.pbase.com/philippineaviat..._pearl_airways . Photos were taken in Salinas, CA.

The terminal will have three floors and will incorporate three air-bridges designed to accommodate aircraft of a size up to and including the Boeing 737 and the Airbus 330. The new Bacolod-Silay International Airport is the first stage in the air transport infrastructure development strategy of the Philippines Department of Transport and Communications (DOTC) - Air Transportation Office. http://www.airport-technology.com/projects/bacolod

Thanks DieselJock. I hope your observation is true. By the looks of it, the New Iloilo Airport is the best looking and most modern airport in our country today. I just wish that the new airport will soon cater international flights to serve the whole of Western Visayas region and Visayas group of islands per se. The New Iloilo Airport will the gateway to country's top tourist destination, BORACAY and the favoured island of GUIMARAS.

thanks, midwestguy. The New Iloilo Airport is definitely the best looking and most sophisticated airport in the country today. The New Iloilo Airport is just awaiting international flights coming from our neighbouring Asian countries early next year. Watch out for it and it continues to unfold the new Gateway to the Heart of the Philippines.

New Iloilo Airport !

Super jet to touch down in RP next week

MANILA, Philippines -- The superjumbo Airbus A-380 is set to touch down in Manila next week, becoming the largest aircraft to ever land at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

Airbus' test aircraft MSN009 will land at the NAIA on October 11 at 2:45 p.m. as part of a route proving tour, a 150-hour four-leg tour around South and North America, the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific aimed at showing the new plane's ability to complete long-haul flights and the receiving airports' capacity to accommodate the superjumbo.

Airport security chief Angel Atutubo said the Manila International Airport Authority has been preparing since 2006 for the arrival of the superjumbo, a twin-deck aircraft that could seat 40 percent more than the typical 525-seater jet.

“It is a test flight that will check the capability of our runway, ground handling and our emergency services, if we will be ready,” Atutubo said on Tuesday.

He said NAIA's runway 06-24, the main runway used for touchdowns and takeoffs of international flights, with a length more than double the A-380's required 1,500-meter landing strip, was more than sufficient for the superjumbo.

He said meetings with the aircraft maker have been going on since 2006 in preparation for the test run in Manila.

After NAIA, the superjumbo will fly to the Diosdado Macapagal International Airport in Pampanga's Clark Special Economic Zone on October 12.

The A-380's technical tour will entail “checks on standard aircraft maintenance and behavior, as well as typical airport operations and compatibility, confirming the aircraft's readiness for entry into service,” Airbus said in a recent release.

The aircraft earlier flew to Bogota, Colombia. It is currently completing a three-city tour in the United States.

The main building
The new airport is about 19 km from Bacolod. So us from Bacolod it's a new change. problem is the road about 5 km from the high way is still under construction.

No offense and I am not trying to incite any arguements, but, I find this airport so plain and not too eyecatching unlike the IloIlo airport that looks so modern in and out. Peace to all!!

Airbus' giant jet lands at Philippine airport

Manila - Airbus' giant A380 jetliner flew into the Philippines on Thursday as part of a series of test flights to show the jumbo aircraft could fit in existing runways in Asia. The A380 flew in to Manila's Ninoy Aquino International Airport from Melbourne.

Test pilot Peter Chandler said the landing went smoothly and the plane was able to taxi to a parking area without any hitches.

"The landing had no troubles at all, absolutely no problem," he told a press conference.

The visit to Manila was part of a series of test flights to show the jumbo jet could "fit in today's airport infrastructure," according to Airbus senior marketing manager Julian Manhes.

The A380 can accommodate as many as 850 passengers if the plane is laid out in all economy-class seating.

Airbus already has 165 orders and 20 commitments from 15 airlines for the giant aircraft. The first delivery to Singapore Airlines will take place next week.

Airport staff have their picture taken next to an Airbus A380, the biggest commercial airliner, at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila October 11, 2007. The A380 is on tour to demonstrate its performance under normal airline operating conditions.
