Got it! After a Street View update, here's the sign that reads "Sundsvall 655", that beats by 16 km the previous Swedish record.

When I think about it, I believe the longest distance sign in the UK is on the M40, coming from the M25: Birmingham 100 miles.

No wait... From Rugby - M6 getting onto the A14: Harwich and Felixstowe... 150 odd miles?

I don't really remember...

They obviously signpost London, getting out of Leeds on the M1 - but they never but the distance on it. Only the distances to the nearest city's. Wakefield, Sheffield etc. and leave London out blank. In the other direction, we're all going THE NORTH

And again I beat the record for Sweden! Haparanda 659 km, near Sundsvall: http://maps.google.es/maps?hl=es&ll=...,46.64,,2,1.56

I know longer distances have been posted, but the cities (and the sign) are in Baja California, and my state has an area slightly larger than 70,000 km2

At the very least, that sign reveals much higher distances than I've seen in Mexico during my travels through the deep South of Mexico. Those did not go beyond 300 km (say, signs to Merida from Cancun).

Think you may be right about the one on A14 -150ish miles to Harwich
In Scotland theres a few over 100 miles,

Perth to Inverness 108
Inverness to Thurso 118

Im fairly certain Ive seen one to Wick 136miles but cant remember where

Excellent sign ...
In the Budapest area, they could at least sign Kraków on M0 and northbound M2. But AFAIK there are no cities in non-neighbouring countries signed in Hungary.

The longest distance signed in the UK that I am aware of is the London mileage signed from the A30 just outside Exeter, Devon. Despite its obvious faults, the A30/A303/M3 route from Devon to London is well used and passes relatively few centres of population - so London is signed very early on with a mileage of 166 miles.

Coming back the other way, Exeter is signed 'only' from the junction of the M3 and A303 in Hampshire with a mileage of 117 miles.

Edit: And the link...

London: 166 miles

The Netherlands:

I've got that sign on the A2 in mind. Just outside Amsterdam, it says Maastricht 206. Would that be the longest distance given in Holland? And I'm not talking about the Euro signs outside Amsterdam on the A1, A2 and A4.

Anyone knows? Chris? Autosnelwegen.nl?

One of the longest distances signed within Hungary:

Obviously it can only refer to Bucharest, like the sign above.

This image could be put in three threads:

Language on signals
Fuel price
Long distances...

It is a signal on a Canadian road.

I think that, having a look of it, you will fill up you tank absolutely... even if prize is double than in the rest of Canada (logistic troubles to arrive fuel there increase the prize) and get an additional tank in your baggage
