It is named Aqua, not Aqua-Blood or Aqua-Acid, so i think only blue glass cladding is perfect. Red or green or other colors would ruin it's simple beauty. Looking great!

im sorry, but i've hated this building since its proposal. Its just another rectangle. I live in chicago, and the effect it only acheivable from underneath. From any distance at all, it looks like another rectangle. Its a complete waste of space IMO.

I'm thinking that the formwork for this tower changes every floor, but it will take lot of time. Whereas if I'm thinking that form work shifts few metres in different directions at each floors, it still doesn't make sense because floors edges aren't identical at every floor. So somebody explain to me how every floor shapes works with formwork.

I think its designed to have ground appeal so that the residence living in it can see the art as they look up, do you think theye care about what people in the neighboring towers think?

This will look amazing when all the floor plates are painted glossy.

The formwork is the same for every floor: rectangular flying forms (wood sheathing over steel trusses that get lift out and up every floor cycle).

The straight edge of the flying forms most likely extends beyond the outermost edge of the outermost curved balcony in the tower.

All they need to do after the form has been flown-up to the next floor is re-arrange the vertical edge form (probably a strip of wood or other material that can be given curvature) to contour to the new balcony profile. The exact location of the curved edge form is probably verified pinpointing a laser to the balcony edge below (distance from edge below is known from design drawings).

Hope this helps. Aloha.

The design of the balconies is very ingenious. It looks superb already, but i think they'll have a hard time washing some of those windows!

When you look at the painted balconies,
the building does not look real,
more like looking at a rendering.

I am hydrogen posted a pic at post #369 which gives a good view looking down onto the floor formwork. You can see the curvy outline of the floorplate in the pic.

the more it grows...the more it strikes me as a creative masterpiece. obviously it's been done before, but in the context of chicago it serves as both a perfect complement and focal point in the skyline.

I'm guessing the cladding on the AQUA aren't openable like on other skyscrapers. Then some rooms with inaccessible balcony that stretches out really far out can't look down on the the streets below.

I donīt like Emporis, but I like Emporis skyscraper awards, because there are specialists in commission and itīs objective 2009,2010,2011... It will be more and more difficult to rate it. BUT I think that Aqua will be best skyscraper of 2009 (with Burj Dubai).

All of the other residential buildings in that area with balconies have doorway access to them for tenant use. The ones on the Aqua will have railings, so I assume that that access will be there.
