that happened to the CN tower, but it looks like like the icicles would hit the other floors before hitting the ground anyway

for example at this tower the crown is heat in winter so there can't fall ice-spires down

This tower is just meant to be seen from below or above.

Exactly my thoughts!

This tower reminds me of the Hearst Magazine Tower in Manhattan where you appreciate it from the street level, yet can barely see it from the skyline.

Mid rise towers add substance to the city and a sense of density to the skyline.

the street's level view counts more, not just an aerial view between the density of buildings.
it's just relaxing when walking on the street and seeing a waving building, instead a straight wall, boring and unpleasant.

That's true for Aqua: the waved floor plates are stunning looking up from the ground, but almost disappear in the distance, and you see "only" a nice glass tower there.

On the other hand, there are around 30 more floors to come, so the building will be much taller than Hearst Magazine Tower for instance. Okay: Aon, Waldorf=Astoria (maybe) and of course CS will stand way taller. But except for these, Aqua will be the tallest tower in Streeterville/New East Side, so I bet it will appear in the skyline from several vantage points (at least the top).

One of these days I must visit Chicago and when I do, trust me, I will appreciate the Aqua tower and be sure to snap some good photos of it.

I would hope that folks who visit New York (even if it's only once in their lifetimes) do the same for stunning towers like the Hearst.

What I do enjoy is finding the Hearst Magazine Tower on the skyline as it barely peaks just slightly into view (really gives a sense of density).

Very nice. Like how Chicago gets a more 21st century look. Most domiant towers remind me of the 1980s (not a bad thing).

Glass difference - the tinting is apparent in this light.

Incredible! I love the imaginative balcony design on the Aqua and the views are going to be stunning. I think a corner balcony would be the best to have as then you will get a 270 degree view
