Reiss is this the blue boarded up unit I thought I originally saw an app go in for? If so maybe the current one is temporary? Although there pallasades unit was quite large so maybe they're linking them together some how?

I can't see New Era moving out the way - it's one of their European flagship stores?

How curious!

Cheers Reiss,

I think New Era might be inclined to move with the buses now being moved for the metro,
I think they could become interested in a unit either in the Bullring or on New St, They'd make a killing in the Bullring to be honest

The Current unit must be Temporary,

Just looked through the new app and that unit is HUGE compared to the current one, they're taking in units fronting cannon st as well.

I'm guessing the current one is just temporary as it was in a good enough condition to open up after the pallasades one closed until work is complete on this one.

Heres a plan of what the new Army Careers Office will be taking, Basement, Ground, 1st and 2nd floors

There's a new clothing shop opening in Digbeth in the Autumn called Provide. Hardly any details about it - such as where it's opening exactly, what sort of clothes, etc etc.. Best to just watch this space.

Marks & Spencer is considering ditching plans to anchor a Land Securities scheme in Birmingham and instead open a new store at St Modwen’s Longbridge development.

The retailer was planning to anchor Land Securities’ 430,500 sq ft scheme at Selly Oak with a 120,000 sq ft store, but it is now considering a 140,000 sq ft shop at the redevelopment of the former MG Rover plant in Longbridge.

St Modwen’s scheme has already secured a pre-let to Sainsbury’s for an 85,000 sq ft supermarket.

Marks & Spencer declined to reveal further information on its plans. A spokesman said: “We are always looking to ensure that we have a relevant local offer to our customers in the Birmingham area but we don’t have anything to comment on at this stage.”

Sainsburys Expansion in Redditch will have to wait for Roadworks to be completed, Also Beefeater and Premier Inn Confirmed for the Teardrop site, as posted in the hotels thread as well...

Quote:
Roundabout changes demanded at Sainsbury's island

By Ian Dipple 02/03 Updated: 02/03 12:03

COUNCILLORS have demanded changes to the roundabout by Sainsbury’s in order to allow the store’s expansion to go-ahead.

Plans were approved on Wednesday (February 29) to move the petrol station onto the opposite side of the roundabout onto the teardrop site to enable a separate proposal, already granted planning permission, to extend the Alvechurch Highway supermarket by almost 13,400 square foot to take place.

But due to concerns about the increase in traffic generated by the move - on top of the Premier Inn and Beefeater restaurant developments also set to be built off Bordesley Lane - a number of changes are proposed to the roundabout's design.

They include creating two exits off Millrace Road, one of which will be a priority lane for traffic turning left to go straight out onto the roundabout and onto the dual carriageway towards Redditch. It will also be resurfaced and remarked. The store will not be able to open until work is completed.

Councillors have also demanded the final say on the location and size of signage and advertising around the petrol station as it will be next to the crematorium.

Christian Wakelin, Sainsbury’s development executive, said: "We will now look to finalise all the legal agreements before drawing up timescales for starting construction works."

The expansion will create between 20 full and 40 part-time jobs on top of the 300 staff already employed. The majority of the new jobs will be connected with the new home delivery service the revamped store will provide.
