Similar to how the O's ended last season...

In one of the most dramatic moments in Camden Yards history, the O's beat the Sox with 3 straight hits in the bottom of the 9th after two were out, and just moments later the Rays finished their amazing comeback (they were down 6-0) to beat the Yanks and send the Red Sox home for the winter!

The look on the faces of the Sox fans was priceless...I'm hoping we have finally taken the Yards back.

And I went to bed at the Top 7 on the Rays game and look what I missed!

Rays pretty much define the phrase "Comeback Kids". 4 years ago, they were another team with the Yankees and Red Sox. Rays were 9 games back at the beginning of the month to clinch the Wild Card. And Rays were 7-0 by the 8th to win the game 8-7.

Rays know how to win and when to win and they proved it last night.

Thanks O's!!!

The Rays give us hope. They have been contenders for, what, 5 years now? Proof that you don't have to be New York or Boston to be competitive in this division. Tampa is one of the smallest markets with one of the lousiest stadiums, and look at what they do.

...& do it with a payroll of only $40M, compared to the red sox's "whopping" payroll of $163M.

it's actually kinda' intriguing when you sit and think about it........lol.

why not us?? why not us next year????

The movie Moneyball should have been about Tampa, not the A's...

yeah, nats fans should really be proud of their team. compared to past years, 80 wins is a huge accomplishment.

Haha We never want to see us in 4th or 5th place ever again, so it's going to be pretty hard forcing the Yanks or Red Sox that far down in the division to let you guys shine.

Some Positive News for the O's

Next year the "fun bird" will be returning as our official baseball cap logo.

Nick Markakis and Matt Wieters each won a gold glove. Happy for both of them, especially Markakis who deserved this award long ago. He currently has the highest fielding percentage among active right fielders.

I love the return of the "fun bird". We'll see what design they come up with.

I am not crazy about the cartoon bird. I think it really looks silly on the front of the cap on a serious adult ball player. Most teams use a letter representing the city or the team. I like the scipted "O", its more dignified and mature.

I like the cities with two words in it so the logo is two letters juxtaposed with each other, like NY, LA, TB, SF, SD etc. I liked the Nats alternate "DC" logo from last year, I don't know why they stopped using that.

...on the other hand, when the O's had the cartoon bird before, they were a "serious" team...a very series-ous team!

no one really paid much attention to that silly-lookin' bird on the hat back in the 60's & 70's when we were moppin' the floor with other teams. They're trying to bring back the winning tradition, so I say go for it!!!

at the same time, if they're talkin' about completely getting rid of the "O's" hat altogether, i think that would be a huge mistake. it's a huge fashion statement around town that's probably generated millions of dollars to the organization.

hell, they could use the money. they're not winning, so.... lol.

Can't argue about the team performing better when they had the cartoon bird on their caps. But they weren't winning because of the bird, they won because they had talent and owners who were committed to maintaining a winning tradition. The Os had a great farm system that produced great players year after year. Angelos ruined that. It doesn't matter what they put on their cap-its about the quality they put on the playing field.
