Why the reduction to 53,000? My Spanish isn't good enough to translate that article!

Hm, no mention of why they reduced it, only that they did it...
Also says that instead of 3 tiers there will be 2 and a small one (vip I guess)
Works will start next spring and be completed in the 2014/2015 season.

I liked the old project better. I don't like the shape of the upper tier that you can see in the background of the third pic.

If that is the interior design in the background of that second picture then I like it, definately something more original then what you normally see.

It's not really a big enough increase in capacity to justify building a new stadium, especially as it is a design that could not be expanded easily in the future.

The new tier configuration isn't good either, those small palco tiers just seem to segregate the normal fans, and defuse a lot of the atmosphere. That would be a big loss considering what a great atmosphere you get in the current San Mamés.

Exactly.. the current San Mames is so unique and so is the whole club. Hope they won't ruin it with new plastic stadium.

I wish this would not be happening. They have such a unique and characteristic ground, and I´m afraid all that will be lost with the new one!
