If this gets built this area is going to be great! Think about, just in a block radius you got the new target, new J.C. Penny, and Kress. This tower will be a major addition to a continuing revival of the pike corridor.

Man do I hope this happens and happens soon! Thats such a prominent lot and with all the new retail popping up around it the area is primed for a project like this! I do hope we see this happen sooner rather than later! |

When/If this building starts up - my desk looks down over onto this lot (I am in the Russell Investments building), so you all can expect great picture updates!

That's great news! I couldn't believe what is the hell were the owner of MacDougal and Southwick store thinking when they remodeled this department store!!! It looked really ghetto! Glad they tore it down. However, I hope this tower have enough room for national retailer to move in and join Target and JCPenny's.

That'll be great! I can't wait to watch it join the skyline from my place in Belltown. I have a perfect view of most of the current construction and hopefully this one joins soon!

Definitely hoping this project gets off the ground; that parking lot is one of the most glaring undeveloped pieces of property downtown in a highly visible area. It's downright ugly there right now. Much of the success of the design will hinge on the finishes and curtain wall chosen, so I'm not too worried about the somewhat bland rendering.

I said it many times before - I'm never worried about projects by OSKA, they always deliver.
And this tower was designed by Tom Kundig, according to their website.

That's a lovely podium. It looks very varied and "multi-faceted", which I think gives it a more human scale.

I like how the guy with the hat in the lower left of the rendering is admiring the building. I imagine he's saying something like "Damn, that's a lot of glass!" to himself.

I'm not too proud to admit I was wrong...if the street view of this building turns out like that rendering, it will be beautiful. A fantastic addition to the landscape.

Both parking garages on both sides of this tower on that rendering need to be replaced by skyscrapers soon.

Well I guess to each his own but I prefer the garages because at least they're SOMETHING instead of just a glaring hole downtown. Surface lots are embarrassing while these garages are just ugly.

Multi-storey garages are much more efficient and space-saving than surface lots. At least one could argue that garages save space that would otherwise be used as a dumping ground for suburbanites' SUVs.

Gonna have to agree with the rogue on this one. Would take a parking garage over a surface lot any day. Perhaps a few could use some upgrades on the street front. A sketchy Terriyaki place for all Seattle garages!
