Push govt to speed up Metro work: N Sivasailam
Source : TOI
http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/13144069.cms Namma Metro is after all Nimma Metro , Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRC) managing director N Sivasailam said on Monday , while asking citizens to chip in to speed up the implementation of the city's ambitious mass rapid transit system project .There's a needfor industrialists , industry bodies and citizens to bring pressure on the government and other agencies to speed up work , Sivasailam told a meeting called by Rotary Club.Underlining the need for speedy completion of the project , he said Namma Metro was essential to free the city from traffic chaos . Majestic Bottleneck: He assured Rotarians that all the remaining corridors - northern , southern and western - will be operational by June-end 2013 . But construction of Majestic station will be delayed by more than 3-4 months as a result of which trains passing through the station won't stop there , he added . He added that of the two tunnel boring machines , one has started operations from Central College station to Vidhana Soudha . The other is expected to launch in 15 days . Help Clear Hurdles: Sivasailam listed Metro's differences with South Western Railways ,litigation with Wakf Boardover land acquisition near Minsk Square and delay in shifting of BR Ambedkar's statue in front of Vidhana Soudha as the hurdles to speedy completion of the project . |

After Metro phase 2, reach Mysore 45 mins faster
Source : DH
http://www.deccanherald.com/content/...e-2-reach.html Namma Metro has some good news for regular commuters to Mysore. Once the phase 2 of the project is up and running - as part of which the East-West line will be extended upto the Kengeri satellite town - one can reach the City of Palaces 45 minutes earlier than usual. This was disclosed by N Sivasailam, Managing Director of the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), while delivering a talk on ‘Namma Metro’ at the Rotary House of Friendship on Monday. Sivasailam said, currently, passengers to Mysore and beyond, from the heart of the City, had to pass through dense traffic. Once the Metro line to Kengeri is completed, these passengers could take KSRTC buses from Kengeri onwards. About the progress on phase 1, Sivasailam said tunnelling work between Central College and Vidhana Soudha was expected to be completed by October. Tunnel boring work on this stretch was coming across pure granite and at Central College, the accumulation of granite was two-metre deep, he said. Sivasailam said phase 1 is expected to get over by the end of 2013. He said, two-level station works at Majestic may take four more months to complete. Longest tunnel in India Sivasailam said as part of phase 2 of Namma Metro, BMRCL is set to dig the longest tunnel in the country - upto 12 km long. He said the tunnel is part of the arterial line between Gottigere and Nagawara. Since the stretch is densely populated, Metro will go underground to save demolition of structures and land acquisition costs. This line will connect crucial zones like MG Road and Cantonment Railway station. |

Feel its definitely worth a read.. Will pick it up asap...
![]() http://www.deccanherald.com/content/...anagement.html DMRC launches book on Sreedharan's management strategies New Delhi, May 15, 2012, (PTI) : 'Metro Man' E Sreedharan's unique style of functioning which made Delhi Metro a success model is legendary by now and the management strategies he followed to achieve his goal is elaborated in a new book brought out by the new age transport system. The book, which explores the journey of Delhi Metro from the concept to operation stage in detail, gives full credit to Sreedharan, who is enjoying his post-retirement days, for execution of all projects well in time. '25 Management Strategies for Delhi Metro's Success: The Sreedharan Way' written by Delhi Metro's Chief Public Relations Officer Anuj Dayal takes readers to a roller coaster ride on the stupendous journey that the new age transport system has had in the national capital in the past 10 years. The book was released today by Sreedharan's successor Mangu Singh, who effused praise on his predecessor explaining in detail the strategies and the risks involved in building the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation. Dayal said the idea of writing a book on management strategies struck him when he got a call from a firm asking him to share the experiences of the organisation's success. "The entire top management had been giving lectures across the world. So, I decided one day why not we record something. That is how this book was conceived. I jotted down the main principles followed by Sreedharan," he said. The book also talks about all powers being vested with the Managing Director of decision-making and cites it as one of the principal reasons for the organisation's success. Dayal said he has recorded the battle on whether to construct the Metro in standard or broad guage and the debate over the corridors at the initial stage. In the book, Dayal says integrity of the people involved in building the system, professional competency, target orientation, emphasis on punctuality, cleanliness and safety, crisis management, delegation of powers and speedy decisions are some of the strategies that are followed at Delhi Metro. Dayal has gone into detail on all 25 strategies and explained how they contributed to the success of the Delhi Metro. Singh in his speech spoke about the Delhi Metro's journey and how it became operationally successful, a feat that has been achieved only by a few mass rapid transit systems in the world. "The task was very difficult. It was the biggest infrastructure project ever taken in the country. We never had any expertise in this field. But Sreedharan tasted success," he said. Singh said the most challenging task was to prove that Metro will be successful after the failure of Kolkata Metro. He also recalled how Sreedharan "planted" some of Delhi Metro's engineers in a consultancy firm which was advising Metro so that they get trained. |

![]() I don't think there is requirement to change the track/line on Majestic. The train can change track at the end of station example : For Green line the train starts from Peenya and end in Puttenhalli and in puttenhalli they can change the tracks.
