The 66m span must be along the metro track (where it crosses rail tracks) & not along existing road bridge (as marked), isn't it ? Also, does anyone have any ideas about u/g station construction techniques in ph-2 (Dairy circle - Nagavara) ? I think cut & cover will be impossible, particularly the stretch after Cant stn since there isn't any space for road diversions - will they go for mining /tunneling ? |

Dont know which city's metro is this, but good innovation!
Construction of underground stations in Chennai metro seems to be different from NM. |

the only difference is soil in chennai is loose soil (i may be wrong in terminology but it means easily excavation can be done) whereas terrain in Bangalore is rocky.

It is cut and cover method alright. But they complete the concrete roof and proceed digging downwards. But in NM, they excavate completely and then start the concrete works. The reason might be as ullasavadan stated.

If not Great but some Good news is
The Viaduct is almost complete from Yesvantapur till Peenya cross - where it goes to peenya depot via Ayappa temple. Only left over is connecting both ends of stations and viaduct inside the station needs to be laid and few pillars at Peenya cross. If everything is fine then by December end we may see Laying of Track getting completed from Peenya Depot to Malleshwaram/Devaiah park. Trail runs by January end. Reach 3 - Viaduct at Soap factory is somewhat 40% complete . No work is carried to finish the 4 spans at abran Jewelers Shop. 66m is still an issue. |

They tried it on many walls in Bangalore. It helped for some time but public usage of such walls continued. As a society we are beyond repair. Unless, of course, a whole new group of citizens get their upbringing right at early childhood and out number this irresponsible lot.

Yes, as ullas said, Bangalore's terrain is rocky and it needs blasting. It becomes very tricky to blast the rocks underneath a roof as in Chennai metro.
