That's just because they're usually very short. If they were long (like sometimes in the Netherlands), I don't see why not, you may still overtake until the exit lane ends. And I did write 'very short'; I just think it's interesting, because we don't have it yet.

Well don't take it serious. This '11-lanes' roads are more likely some geeky approaches which have no broader support or popularity. It's just some kind of 'food' for our geeky minds, which desire more and more views of wide, new motorways

Of course, but e.g. a 20-lane motorway by Maribor would be very impressive, even if just for a few meters.

If you don't count this soon-to-be 9-lane stretch, there are a few short 8-lane stretches (if you don't count many frontage roads along H3, where there's a very short 12-lane section, but no one considers it as such). Maybe toll plazas are wider.

Real motorways have no more than 4 lanes (2×2) with hard shoulders, some sections on longer ascents have additional third lane for slow vehicles (but then without hard shoulder, and they are more narrow too). Everything else are just additional lanes for intersections and they don't count.

Some widenings to 2×3 with hard shoulders are planned on Ljubljana ring motorway and some approaches to Ljubljana in next 10 years.

A2, Pluska-Hrastje, 6.6.2009, construction update.

Beginning of remaining 14 km long section under construction at Pluska near Trebnje - old 50+ years old overpass was removed recently (pictured in direction of Zagreb):

Trebnje west junction with a tunnel behind:

Closer to Trebnje town:

There will be nice view, if there will be no bigger antinoise barriers installed (which I don't believe quite) - 1 km further from previous picture:

New temporary construction exit on existing expressway:

Viaduct Ponikve (pictured in direction of Ljubljana):

Mining works behind viaduct:

Another temporary construction exit, will function as roundabout very soon and after construction this will be part of new Trebnje east exit, also a part of future expressway toward Celje:

Future junction Mirna Peč (currently there is no exit from expressway):

Continuning towards Novo mesto and Zagreb:

End of section at Hrastje near Novo mesto:

From other side:

Is there a new official opening date for A1 Maribor Bypass as well as A4 Maribor-Ptuj?

A picture of the expressway through Maribor (H2), where it narrows (the so-called 'bobsleigh track'):

Strange, in these days I don't expect "Avstrija" on the signs, but Graz (and/or Gradec).

This signage is pretty old and probably dates back into Yugoslavian times.

Design of those motorway signs was already defined and used in eighties, like on 1984 Ljubljana-Kranj motorway.

Been so Slovenia this weekend... what can i say... superb quality, very nice marking... but you must have heard this many times before. I have only one more comment and one question:

1) why the hell did your government force me to buy a 1/2y ticket for EUR 35? This need to be changed.
2) any plan to extend A1 from Koper to Croatia? The last stretch is annoying... I had to wait for an hour for nothing. The same situation is on the other side of the border..
