Actually it is 2044 m high at most. It is under Mangart mountain.

Under that mountain road there is state road between Bovec and Tarvisio (I). It will get new viaduct before this autumn.

Do you have any (official) link? I got nothing in Google with this elevation. I only found 2072 m:

Base topographic plan with scale 1:5000 says that. 2058 m high is Mangartsko sedlo (saddle)/Forcella Mangart, which however road does not reach quite. 2044 m point on the road is about 105 m straight line from saddle.

2072 m figure is therefore not correct.

Now it's official:
- last missing part of H4 towards Nova Gorica opens on Thursday 13th August.
- last missing part of A1 (Maribor bypass) opens on Friday 14th August.

It will be also very steep, in about 9,5 km it will ascent by about 460 m, that's almost 5% incline average. During the construction 2 viaducts and 3 cut&covers were cancelled however cost didn't lower because of that.

Great pics, Krpan! This's gonna be by far the most interesting part of the H4. The rest of it runs through a wide valley, with low traffic and nothing going on along it, so it's rather boring to me (especially, if you follow the 100-km/h speed limit ).

ok pijanec, let me hear you: i am picking my friend at eastern part of Zagreb (Sesvete) and we're going in direction of Graz. i wanna avoid Macelj/Gruškovje. which solution do you recomend?
1)Sesvete - A4 - Čakovec - Mursko Središće/Petišovci - A5 - Maribor - Graz
viamichelin says 256 km, probably some 10-15 km less because of A5, about 35 km of non-motorways
2a)Sesvete - A4 - Varaždin - Dubrava/Zavrč - Ptuj - Maribor - Graz
212 km, 55 km non-motorways
2b)Sesvete - A4 - Varaždin - Trnovec/Središče - Ptuj - Maribor - Graz
223 km, 55 km non-motorways
3) something else?
