Few pictures from last remaining section of A2 under construction between Ljubljana and Jesenice. Reprofilation of 300 m long tunnel Ljubno is being started, works are advancing from other side, on this side they covered entrance to prevent material being flown out of tunnel. Roadway in tunnel will be enlarged from 2x3,5 m to 2x3,75 m + 2,5 m (hard shoulder).

Reconstruction of viaduct Lešnica, here new steel plates waiting to be built in.

No workers visible in these days.

No work is being carried on remaining two viaducts, but reconstruction of both should start pretty soon. Actually they will demolish them both and make new viaducts.

And two pictures of Julian Alps from A2 in early morning:

I really like those last pics, although not of very high quality, they have a great atmosphere if you know what I mean... just driving on a deserted motorways, clear skies and snowy mountains in the distance.. I love that. Slovenia is awesome.

About that tunnel, it's only like 2 or 3 km if I remember correctly from august. On the Jesenice-bound lanes, there was some kind of confusion, Germans thought they must drive on the shoulder, so two lanes were available, so those guys were driving on the shoulder, and then all the sudden, the shoulder stopped, but they had traffic next to them.

As I see Slovenia has also experienced a truck pile-up as we here and I have to say, that the ones in tunnels are much more dangerous, two trucks burn down in Trojane tunnel, luckily no severe injuries. Pictures: http://www.sta.si/en/foto.php?nid=1471576

Very nice pic.
I guess belluno could lies somewhere between the first and the second row of mountains in the background, so could you post it in higher resolution? And just to realize the direction of your snapshot, which village is the bell tower of, Crni Kal? is koper port in the background, right?

I think so too, in fact, those mountains visible are the Dolomiti, over 170 kilometers away. Such pics always amaze me, I have also seen pics from the German Schwarzwald showing the Mont Blanc or Berner Oberland massif.

Last May, I could see the Alps/Dolomites even from Porec, but only for one evening (after a thunderstorm).

And yes, that is Trieste. I remember that you could see the city very well from the old road Koper-Postojna.

I saw this map on www.promet.si and I'm interested in those section I've marked green and brown:
1) green - is this route available, because I didn't go this way since A4 opened, and google maps and www.najdi.si maps don't have this route (I suppose www.promet.si is much better map than google maps and/or www.najdi.si but "bolje pitati nego skitati" )?
2) brown - is this route under DARS vignette system and if it's not, can I go from south with main road 9, go northward on A4 and take very first exit toward Ptuj, which is that brown line, without any need for DARS vignette system?
Also ...
3) My humble opinion to avoid A4 till Maribor is to take right near Tržec from main road 9, continue north via Zagrebačka cesta (red line) and turn left on green section that is leading to main road 1. Am I thinking correct?

Tnx in advance for your answers.
Best regards

2) brown road (Ptuj eastern bypass) is not under vignette. and those few hunderd meters of A4 till first exit, surprisingly, are not under vignette system

OOOOO, I didn't know that but, yes, it's really surprisingly, the more when you know that roundabout under A1 where H2 ends north of Maribor was under DARS vignette system few years ago

Tunnel was reopened today.
A video of a crash from surveillance camera - notice, how rapidly fire develops:

If you see a burning truck in a tunnel, run!

In direction of Ljubljana. Most necessary repairs were done, but some will have to be done in spring because of temperatures.
Some pictures of damaged tunnel equipement:

Firefighters arrived in 7 minutes, so no larger damage was done.
