Sure

When you will have a chance to meet and work with local authorities they you will realize, that there is no possibility to make them smarter.

at least you have normal traffic signs (not directional) in better condition than HR. at least i think so. we have real mess. for instance, there is clear legislation about size of signs regarding the class and importance of the road. but anyway, at the same road here you can find different sizes of the signs. that really irritates me.
also, there are different suppliers of the signs.so at some stretches of roads you can find totally different design of the signs. so unprofessional. i haven't noticed that in SLO nor in any other countries.
and last thing - mistakes on signs. for instance, at the sign "end of forbidden overpassing" diagonal line sometimes goes from upper left to lower right side  not to mention the most horrible speed limit signs in the world here.

i was hoping that these things would be history after 2001 and redesigning the signs, but no.

You're not the only ones, we have some companies that make very unprofessional signs that have appeared in the past few years. I have seen motorway symbol with the green and white fields mixed, speed limit signs with numbers not in the centre, misspelled towns, new signs that aren't properly visible at night, etc.

oh so you have them too. i haven't noticed. but it is horrible and so unprofessional, i see that you understand what i mean. sometimes symbols are completely different, some weird fonts on speed limits, symbols of cars and similar.
one more stupid thing here: i have seen sign for speed limits 90 km/h at just few places, although it is general speed limit. they often put 80 (old limit) on new roads (the same for expressways with 100-110).

A2 motorway - part 1

Here are some pictures from my trip on Slovenian A2 motorway. I have been on the entire A2 but today I will only post pictures from half of it, from the Croatian border to Ljubljana.

Croatian border check-point:

Slovenian border check-point:

Just after the border crossing:

Slovenian speed limits:

First exit in Slovenia and first rest area:

I've bought both Slovenian and Austrian vignettes from here. I've payed 15 € for the Slovenian vignette and 7,9 € for the Austrian one. At the RO/H border crossing I've asked for this two vignettes but they were 5 € more expensive.

Ljubljana 107 km

First tunnel ahead:

100 km/h speed limit for a 105 m long tunnel

And for the right turn after the tunnel. This is because of tight space available.

A2 motorway - part 2

First toll station (cars do not stop since they have vignettes):

Roadworks

Chris, is this you?

Nice one

Nice short tunnel (6 lanes wide if we also consider the hard shoulder):

Twin-tube tunnel with 100 km/h speed limit again:

Nice bridge:

Another wide short tunnel:

Getting closer to Ljubljana:

A2 motorway - part 4

Here is an interesting thing on A2 motorway. The 2 ways go on separate tracks for few km (I guess this is because one way was built on a previous road that could not be upgraded to full motorway standard):

One way motorway:

Joined again

Ljubljana is very close

Another twin-tube tunnel:

A2 / A1 interchange after the tunnel:

After the interchange. Note that the motorway is now signed only as A1 although it is also A2:

Karawanken Tunnel signed from Ljubljana bypass (90 km away):

Ljubljana center exit:

Taking Ljubljana center exit:

I will post more pictures from A2-Slovenia tomorrow

great quality photos, bogdymol. Did really your girlfriend take all those good photos of signs?! I mean even I very often miss a sign like Karavanke tunnel because it 'happens' just once. And your camera must be good as well, for those shots inside tunnels...

Yes, my girlfriend did take all those photos. I've learned her how to take good road pictures. The only thing I've modified at the pictures is that I have cropped them a little bit to have an aspect ration of 16:9 because it looks better. I am using a Nikon D40 camera.

A2 motorway - part 5

More pictures from A2 motorway, this time from Ljubljana to Bled.

On Ljubljana bypass:

A2 / A1 interchange:

We're going to Villach (Beljak in Slovenian):

A2 / H3 interchange. It's weird that it's written only A1 on the signs, not H3. But at least they got the color right

So after the tunnel right lane will exit...

... or maybe not. This is the first motorway exit I see in a tunnel:

Roadworks

Bled 10 km

Taking the exit to Bled:

Let's document it now then

This picture is blurry

I've also recorded it on camera but right now I don't have time to process the video.

Kudos for Bogdy's girlfriend, I can't take a clear picture in a tunnel. They always turn out extremely blurred.
