You can use a bucket of warm water, but not very hot because it may crack glasses.

BTW, in Trieste just rain.

A quarter million people in Slovenia are now without power.

Scores of roads are closed

It's awful; more than 6,000 km of roads are closed and 5,000 km2 (!!!) of forests are destroyed.

Power supply in many parts of Slovenia is like this:

Thickness of ice is like this:

or this:

Forests are like this:

Main railway to coast and Italy is like this:

Normal power supply to most of Slovenia is expected to be restored in no less than two weeks. Now various generators are being transfered to Slovenia from many European countries. Some roads (for example Jezersko) are passable only with military APCs as they are lethal to other vehicles because of falling trees. A bit warmer weather, which would end this icy blockage is planned at the end of the week.

What a disaster... I hope here the proximity with the sea will help.
Something similar, although in a much smaller scale, happened in Trieste last year. It was already spring, end of March. The temperature dropped below zero, there was a heavy snowfall and strong bora wind. For a couple of days everything was covered by ice formations.

Fortunately no black outs and other major damages (apart few ice-related car crashes and the A4-RA13 turned into a parking lot).

In those days "Il Piccolo", the Trieste's local newspaper has a quite exaustive coverage about the problems in Slovenia.

For some reason there is hardly to nothing to be found on Dutch sites as well. It seems that none cares about Slovenia at all. But if one small avalanche should happen in Austria, it would be about breaking news here.

What the hell is that ice? I believe most of the damages are caused by this. It is some kind of rain? Sleet, freezing rain?

i am sorry for you Slovenia, I hope you can restore ASAP.
