I haven't noticed that. Maybe because if you take that exit to H3 and continue on H3, eventually you will get on A1?

Yes, you'll get on A1, but you have 10 km of H3 before that.

This place called Maribor is actually the 2nd largest Slovenian city. Yes, it sounds like Marlboro. My relative used to live 30 km away from Maribor and now she lives 30 km away from Maryborough, Victoria, Australia.

What is happening with A4 in Slovenia? Is it building the part that goes from Ptuj to Croatian border or not?

According to the sticky tread about current motorway constructions, it's not U/C yet.

There was no construction or anything close to that when I drove there two weeks ago. At the same time, the old state road is getting even worse, especially the first 2 km after the end of the A4 towards the border. Quite big potholes all over the place, very uncomfortable to drive there.

Answer to this question should be added to the title, because it's getting annoying.

That's actually an amazing story someone posted once a pic from a highway in Slovenia with an exit sign which said "Lipica" and a horse was next to the text. I thought the horses name came from Lipik in Croatia

I'm guessing Slovenia doesn't want to build it as there's simply not much gain for them. I (and plenty of others) already take the Mureck-Lenart-Ptuj route to avoid paying for the vignette (cheap petrol in Mureck combined with not paying for the vignette makes the 20-30 minute delay worth it) - so what's the point in them actually upgrading the missing bit?

Traffic levels are quite light there anyway, apart from on summer Saturdays - I'm not convinced that they actually need to upgrade it at all. Perhaps things will change once Croatia joins Schengen, but for now, the lack of motorway connection discourages some traffic from that route.

Delay is purely of financial nature, government has no money, same with DARS(motorway company). In 2014/2015 DARS will repay two big parts of their loans and things will go smoother from there on, regarding new investments.
