If the Slovenia does not change the fees for motorway use, this section of motorway will be rather avoided by most people going from Graz to Zagreb, since it is ridicoulus to pay 15 Euro for appr. 70 km (this is the cost of one way passage for most people going for vacations in Croatia).

I don't believe it will be changed because of A4. After all 15€ is cheap if you're using A1 or A2 and there are pros and cons with this system, for example - less traffic jams.

most tourists don't use them in combination with A4 (not considering A2 MB-Šentilj).
15€ would be reasonable price for that section, but for return trip. but limiting shortest term sticker on only 7 days makes it not valid because tourists take more than 7 days for returning. 10 days would suite them better. but not to DARS.

I don't believe DARS could get more money lowering prices. True, people will avoid A4 but that's not DARS main concern. Lower prices can mean more traffic but less profit. However, lorries and trucks won't avoid the A4 and this traffic represents half of DARS income. A4 won't be profitable in any case, that's why it's being build so late.

Nice to hear that also this part of our "motorway cross" will be finally complete. I think the locals around Draženci towards Gruškovje will be delighted . Also tourist in transit will be able to travel comfortably through Slovenia now.

And the nicest thing, travel time will be significantly lower, especially in summer. By 2018, Croatia should have joined the Schengen zone, which means that the border will have ceased to exist at Macelj. With a speed limit of 130 km/h and no border waiting times, I think we are talking about 10-15 minutes less travel time from Zagreb to Austria.

As someone who has to drive on this section quite often, I can't wait for the A4 to finish :-)

People from Ljubljana don't really need it. I've used it to get to Ptuj instead of the old road via Pragersko. A short part of it also makes sense, if you go to Varaždin or Čakovec.

I always thought that this part of Slovenia is pretty much flat. But video animation on previous page shows something completely different, quite hilly, undulating terrain. So construction of this section of A4 motorway seems to be quite demanding. There are also some short tunnels planed on this route.

neah. surrounding of that missing 10 km section is hilly, but only last 4 km before the border of the road is in hills. remaining part is flat-terrain road in flat valley.

Sorry I have to ask again, though this time it is a more detailed question. On friday in mid-july I will go from SLO to Croatia coming from Berlin. I am still in doubt about the choice of border. I am thinking about Macelj but it may be risky (+3 hours). How is the situation in Bregana ? I guess there is more lanes there since its the main SLO-CRO border. However there also exist local borders, but I know neither if these are only for the locals and if they accept non-EU citizens ? Any advices ?

Verso, there's a quicker way than that. You can go on the Slovenian road 689 (just south of the end of the A4) towards Rogatec and then drive towards Dobovec. It'll save quite a bit of time rather than coming off the A4 early, and it might even be possible to avoid Rogatec on the way.

Interestingly, why on earth is Dobovec for interntional traffic but Rogatec-Hum na Sutli for EU-only?
