Šentilj really is a horrible place these days. Maybe something will be done about it when both countries will start with the construction of the second railroad track. But I'm not very optimistic. At the end the old border control buildings will be removed because of the safety reasons (they will get old and dangerous).

Road safety statistics: 2014 vs. 2013

Number of road accidents
- 2014: 17899 (-5,32%)
- 2013: 18904

Road fatalities
- 2014: 108 (-15,74%)
- 2013: 125

Number of wounded
- 2014: 7968 (-9,71%)
- 2013: 8742

Last year we had the lowest road fatalaties since independence. An increase of serious injuries for 13% (802 vs. 708) was the only negative factor.

What was the reason for numbers going down?
New laws or regulations?

I'd say better cars, roads and driving culture.

No, no way. I just compared 2012 and 2013, it was pretty much the same. I doubt there was a drop in traffic volume in 2014. The numbers for 2014 should be (imo) higher since there is more freight traffic on motorways. The truck convoys are back. But then again, there was no significant road improvement in 2013.

Yes, that looks very Swedish, including the cable barrier, narrow shoulder and groove strip. Given time, its location could be identified.

I know that this section :https://www.google.rs/maps/dir/45.97.../data=!3m1!1e3
is sub-standard and also it's very old. When is this part of A2 going to be demolished and turned in to the real motorway carriageway?

You're right. This part should be demolished or converted into a regional road after building a new, appropriate carriageway in Zagreb/Belgrade direction.

I drive on this substandard part once a month, and yes, there are always smartasses with speed up to 120 kmh, especially at the downhill before the Višnja Gora exit.

Cool, but how is A2 boring? It's quite interesting, at least between Ljubljana and Novo mesto.

i don't know, it is boring to me. A1 is much better. however, there is anyway one of my favourite views on SLO motorway network on A2 (the curve near Dolenje Karteljevo).

What's the reason for this? It seems a very local border crossing.

A1 is much more interesting because it goes thru mountains...
A2 is interesting between Kranj and Karavanke tunnel.
