Too bad he doesn't go to Ptuj, there wouldn't be much difference anyway.

Yes, this is quite a significant measure indeed.. In Austria, ASFINAG proposed the corridor from Salzburg via A1 to Linz and then Graz to Maribor, or from the A10 in Villach via the A2 to Italy, and then to Slovenia (see http://www.asfinag.at/newsroom?-1006...side-view-full, in German only, though)

I think that especially the route via Linz and the A9 is not going to be an easy one, as there are still a number of 1+1 tunnels, which normally already have congestion in the weekends..
Further, I'd expect delays at the A10/A2 interchange at Villach, if many people use the lanes to turn onto A2.

Well, good luck to everyone who will be travelling that Saturday! I imagine huge delays on the Loibl pass road as well..

Italians are also preparing for the "black Saturday":

There will be dynamic signalisation already on the German A8 motorway, which will recommend driving via Brenner instead of Salzburg:

According to the latest information the Karawanken Tunnel will be shut down at 11 a.m., and Austrian A11 will be closed from 9 a.m. at Knoten Villach so the queue can disappear before the tunnel is shut down for a prolonged period of time. They currently anticipate a reopening at 6 p.m., but things could change.

A lot of traffic will have passed Villach and the tunnel by 9 o'clock, but not all, particularly in direction north.

i saw today on dynamic panels along A1 and A2 information about oncoming closure.

btw, why the hell does DARS have to change crash barriers between Unec and Logatec in the time of the largest crowd? it was disaster to travel today from Fernetti to Ljubljana.

I don't think there is a single week when there isn't a lot of traffic on the A1 nowadays, to be honest. If anything, there is less traffic on summer weekdays than regular weekdays, in my experience at least. Summer weekends are a completely different story, though.

I do wonder if it's going to be feasible to do things like change crash barriers at night now that night-time roadworks are possible. Maintenance works really should be performed at night on many parts of the A1 and on the Ljubljana ring.

I'm looking at cameras and the Karavanke Tunnel is still open in direction Austria, there are still vehicles driving through.

The tunnel was closed at approximately 12.30 due to Putin's delay (his plane has just landed). In other news:

1. There was someone driving in the wrong direction (Geisterfahrer) on the southern Ljubljana bypass

2. Some guy commited a suicide on the A4 by sitting down on the floor, and he was overrun by a bus

They've opened the A2 to the tunnel (and Austrians A11), but not yet the tunnel itself, so now drivers are waiting in front of it. What the hell?

I have noticed one nice thing at A1 this week - you have finally changed direction sign at this place:
https://www.google.hr/maps/@45.75966...7i13312!8i6656

do H4 doesn't head to Nova Gorica only, but now you have Udine and something more (Ajdovščina maybe?) on it.

(btw, why is Novo mesto, but Nova Gorica?)

I think because "mesto" just means "city", just a normal/common slovenian word while "Gorica" is a real name.

hm, i don't think so. Šmajerške Toplice, Bela Cerkev, Vinji Vrh, Višnja Gora, Velika Loka, Grahovo Brdo, Dolge Njive. according to your opinion, all those should not have both capital letters. but obviously only mesto and vas don't have it, all other do.

Mesto, vas, trg, selo and naselje are lowercase. The logic behind it is that these words refer to types of settlements, whereas gorica, for example, means 'hill'.
