In general I find the sticker OK as a system, but in Slovenia it'll be quite expensive and the motorways should be finished before, don't you agree? So a 7-10 days option for let's say 7 euros (like in Austria) would be a nice compromise for tourists and transit. You can't just rip off people and say we don't care...

I also think it's taking advantage of tourists, in which case the tourism industry could really be affected. For example, the most popular transit route in Switzerland - between Basel (Germany/France) and Italy - is 300 km in length. If you add a return journey, it sums up to 600 km. Not taking into account that the 17-km Gotthard Tunnel isn't charged, and also taking into account that the Karavanke Tunnel is. It won't be nice to drive from Salzburg to Ljubljana.

Yes Verso Sticker in Austria in Slovenia, and 3 tunnels... that makes a lot... If my calculation is ok, it will be almost 95 euros for a return drive Salzburg-Ljubljana!!!! And that's WAAAAY too much!!!

Not only the Slovenian tourism industry, but also the Croatian, because Istria and the Dalmatian coast is one of the key tourist spots in southeastern Europe.

It is Verso, for this money I expect stunning motroways with aluminium crashbarriers and no bump for the whole jounrey through slovenia, also wide motorways with no traffic jams at all.

You have to bear in mind that we have parliamentary elections this autumn/fall, and the current government will do everything to keep its position, which will be hard according to predictions, so that's what it's all about. Think - 102 km of new motorways this year, not expensive annual sticker etc. I predict tight victory for the current government. My bet is also that we'll never see a 55-€ annual sticker, b/c this year it's too late for it, and by the next year the elections will have been past. So this year it will be like buying an annual sticker for 70 € (2×35 €), and for the next year they will raise the price.

For cars returning in 10 days:

Slovenian sticker - 35 €
Austrian sticker - 7.70 €
Karawankentunnel - 2×6.50 €
Katschberg and Tauern tunnels - 2×9.50 €
-----------------------------------------
= 74.70 €

Still way too much.

The Ljubno Tunnel is between Kranj and Jesenice, how don't you know that? :P

Stupid journalists (all of them!) can't do simple math: the price of the sticker for motor bikes (just yearly sticker possible) will be exactly half the price for cars, which isn't 22.5 €, but 27.5 €!

You're completely right

I don't think it's so wise of Slovenia to introduce a Vignette for minimum 1/2 year.

IMO you'll have even more problems with "bypass-traffic" (don't know if that word exists) than we have here in Austria. For example in Salzburg I think many traffic-problems coult be solved if only the A1 from Salzburg-Nord to the German border and the A10 from Puch/Urstein would be Vignette-free. And here you pay only €7,60 (even when you stay longer than 10 days you pay only €15,20 for 2 Vignettes)

I think when I'm going to Croatia this Summer I'll not go via Ljubljana but via Graz, take the last exit before the Border and go to Ptuj via national roads as there is only some 10 kms of motorway which would be as much as (!) €3,50 per km!!! And there isn't even a tunnel or along viaduct or something.

The only thing we can hope is that they might introduce some other (smaller) ones when they see the bad effects of such a system.

Yes, I don't understand why don't they introduce a week vignette? I mean, I understand, but it's really a rip-off principle... Anyone who will be just in transit through Slovenia won't have a nice picture of that country. And above all, motorways are not finished, you have to pay that much for partial motorways, which is also very problematic.

Belgium also has those strange plans for a year-vignette (€60), which every transit-tourist has to buy. I hope they will also introduce week-vignettes.
