Dane (near Sežana) on the A3 and Nanos and Bazara on the H4 also still have toll booths in the middle but are not as problematic as the traffic there is not as heavy. Furthermore, some toll stations couldn't be refurbished due to structural issues, too. After electronic tolling is introduced, Dars will finally be able to completely remove all of them.

The vignette system will stay in place for cars, although it might become electronic in the future.

Freeflow tolling was planned to be in function already in 2013 and at that time old toll stations would be removed. But several problems with tenders (first tender was launched in 2011) delayed decisions.

DARS has announced a tender for renewal of A1 Unec - Postojna section. In documentation it is clearly written that hard shoulders must be wide enough for allowing "hard shoulder running" in case of heavy traffic - that is the first case of such widening in Slovenia.

quite a part of that section has third lane for slow vehicles already, that is probably the reason.
