This autumn is the deadline...AFAIK....along with Mura-bridge.

today i've been thinking a bit and i'm wondering what will be situation with toll stations, are they saying as they are now, or middle will be removed, and there will be only few lanes for trucks? or they stay with free passage for cars? if that second will be, then in summer there will still be a lots of crowds because this will slow traffic a lot, although there wll not be stopping

OK, the news just came out. But as I understand, there really will be a 10 km section right after Nagykanizsa left for July or for the fall. As a matter of fact I can't wait to go down M7 as far as possible. Imo the Mura bridge is no big deal, since one has to stop at the Croatian border anyway. Unlike at the Slovenian one. Btw, that Pince border crossing should be the first smooth transition, since it will be the first freeway connection built after Shengen. No bumpy curves, no abandoned buildings, etc., just a roadsign. I wonder if that will be completed before the summer.

well, afaik we (hungary) were forced by the eu to introduce a daily ticket for transit trucks...

Yes, I've heard the same for Austria (concerning short-time vignettes for individuals), so I hope there will be some pressure on Slovenia to introduce daily or weekly stickers.

is it true that there might be some state (G) roads requiring vignettes too?

No. Just expressways and motorways with appropriate sign (blue or green).

@Chris:
Actually there are some insane proposals to connect Italy and Croatia via tunnel or bridge over Adriatic sea.

Maybe just the expressway parts of the G111 (by Koper and Izola), although it's not explicitly marked on the sticker map. The G104 (LJ-Tomačevo - LJ-Črnuče) won't require sticker, b/c it doesn't fall in the authority of Dars (the only such 4-lane expressway).

On a side note, I almost lost a wheel in Italy 2 km before the Slovenian border by Fernetti; they should definitely fix that catastrophic spot.
Oh, and I saw Tunisian and Algerian license plates!

When I came to Germany I drove on the Slovenian motorways and they were very good. I can´t undersand Keber why he´s saying that the Slovenian motorways arne´t smooth but the Austrina ones are way smoother. The slovenian motorways are in my opinion one of the smoothest, they are as smooth as the Struma motorway and way smoother than the motorways in any other country, including Austria. Asphalt motorways in general are better than concrete because asphalt is softer while concrete is very hard.

I guess that bridge post refers to the smallness of our country, but what is even funnier is that the people who mock us for that come from countries which, on a map of Europe, don't take much more space than Slovenia does.

cheers

You should see the new asphalt on part of the widened Bergamo-Milano highway (direction Milano only). The smoothest pavement I've ever seen, it's as smooth as a baby's butt! I just hope it isn't slippery in rain.

i guess that asphalt is smooth when it gets repaired well. the smoothest asphalt that i remember was at section of french A9 somewhere between Narbonne and Montpellier in 1998. i couldn't believe that motorway can look so beatifull, signalization (especially horizontal) was perfect, it looked as it was exact in milimeter.

I noticed in Bulgaria they like to use rough asphatl on national raods and motorways, I guess it is because of better grip. For example the Struma motorway has very even asphalt, but it feels a bit rough but that is nice because you think you go with very low speeds. It feels kind like rubber. On some parts of the Bulgarian roads teh asphalt is so rough that for example the Bus vibrates a bit, not the Struma motorway though,

croatian asphalt is very rough though, nothing bad, it´s pretty even but it´s very rough, but with ordinary suspention you wont feel anything, for suspention rough but even asphalt is better than a smooth rollercoaster. But the suspention of the Bus I came to Germany was broken and I felt every tiny thing like a big pothole, the journey was a nightmare, the Bus was very ugly, it was quite new but ugly, a diamond if you guys know.

Just look how ugly it is.

Oh and I drove on the new long viaduct someone showed here, the section looks ******* awesome and the crashbarriers, if I were with the car I would have stopped to cut some peace to install on my balcony.

Not necessarily. I don't think a potential bridge between Mongolia and Kazakhstan would allude to smallness of Russia or China.
