I like the Slovenian DARS page, very good navigation and up to date information about traffic jams and weather, really great website.

That's a cut-and-cover. The Cenkova tunnel is actually also just 360 m long, the other 230 m are Cenkova cut-and-cover.

@x-type: Don't complain, we have the A4 MD and the A6/A9.
@radi: maybe they opened up Struma immediately after paving it, that would explain why it is such a shitty expressway

The Struma motorway is a motorway, anyone who disagrees doesn´t know the standarts of a motorway, it has everything a motorway must have so don´t talk bollox. If for you a sign matters more than the motorway itself you must be pretty dumb and reasistic, expressways in other countries get labelled like that because they lack criterias of the motorway standart, for example narrow emergency lanes, narrow driving lanes, very tight curves, lack of dviders, trafficlights and so on. All that doesn´t apply for the Struma motorway so don´t talk shit.

By the way, "struma" is Latin for a swelling in the neck due to an enlarged thyroid gland

^ I know, but don't dare showing us pics, cause it's ugly.

I can't wait for the next AADT figures. I expect a significant traffic rearrangement between Hungary and Italy.

Timon, most rich western european countries and not only they have so many roads labelled motorways which lack emergeny lanes and are very narrow, and you want to degrade the Struma motroway with way superior standarts to an Expressway, quit talking shite man. You can go to googleearth and measure the 210 m long straight exit ramp of the Struma which (the motorway) is for most of the 20 km on a higher bed than the surrounding landscape.

You're jealous that we built it sooner than motorways to Croatia.

Actually progress made last half a year (that's how long construction is now in progress) has been remarkable regarding difficult terrain. One of the two viaducts is actually close to be finished (but sorry no pictures, it is away from normal roads). 5 mil. cubic meters of material will be dug out, mostly rock. This is 6-times less than at Croatian Zagreb-Split motorway, but again, this section is 27-times shorter. So I wouldn't moan about slow progress too much.

Some pics of the A5. I drove on it today, but I didn't make photos, b/c these are better anyway. I must say it's great. There's practically zero traffic (most of which are trucks), and there's no need for any hard shoulders, so I don't wanna hear anyone bitching it again. From Murska Sobota to Maribor taken yesterday (from Murska Sobota to Hungary when muravidék resizes them):

Empty road, that's what I call driving.

I won't bitch about the lack of hard shoulders per se, but would it just kill 'em to set the crash barriers back far enough so that a disabled vehicle could get clear of the traffic lanes?

Handsome bridges, very trim and spare. And the piers on that viaduct-- nice.

For disabled vehicles there are SOS-nichés every 750 metres (in average).

Good that they removed tool booths for cars, but how about vignettes?

BTW I still have mine on windshield

That toll booth still seems to be opened for trucks and buses. Why? Great pics btw
