So much less money has been collected with vignettes than with the previous system (at least I think so). And great about Google!

Two magic pics from the A1 Ljubljana - Trieste this morning:

Hey, apparently we do have directional signs for bikes; even international.

Oh yeah, expect thousands of pics from Trieste.

well, less income means less rip off for drivers...

and taking into account that this vignette system is quite expensive for foreigners, it means more less rip off for slovenian drivers...

what is the problem? :-)

Yes, but we have to pay for the loans, maintain existing motorways and build new ones. Thus it's being searched for more normal vignettes. But a study has to be done before.

well, slovenian drivers (similarly to all europian drivers) pay enough fuel tax and car related tax to finance these expenses...

50M eur is NOTHING... its a drop in the ocean...

I think their problem is not that the toll wont pay for the new constructions, but that it brings in less than before it was implemented, which makes the new method kind of pointless. The rip-off shot back.

Well, everyone knew that, but it looked like a great pre-election move. Thank god we didn't vote for them despite cheap vignette.

The snow looks awesome. We don't see much of that here in Queensland.

pointless?

I dont think it is pointless (from slovenian point of view) to make it cheaper for slovenian drivers, and make it more expensive for foreigners...

This night will be very snowy. At Karavanke tunnel towards Austria (traffic cameras), about 10-15 cm of snow fell in last hour or two:

They only made it cheaper to those who regularly use them, everybody else s*ck...hence the decrease in revenues. If I would live in Slovenia,I wouldnt bother to buy a half-year vignette because once a year I want to travel to,lets say,Austria...if they really wanted to maximize profits, they would have introduced shorter-period vignettes too.

I dont think so...

I dont know what was the toll but lets count with 0,05eur/km for cars...

with the price of the vignette (35eur/50eur) you were able to go 700km/1000km in toll system...

IMO 700km/1000km in a year is not a regular use...

I think this vignette system (and price) brings more traffic from main roads to motorways than it distracts...

(for a hungarian going to italy the price is almost the same: from pince to triest its almost 300km, on a return trip its 600km, so the toll was almost 35eur.
any extra trip is for free... :-)

Hungarian annual vignette (meant for Hungarians) is expensive indeed.

If you use the motorways so often that you need a yearly vignette, then its cost will be a drop in the ocean compared to the cost of fuel and servicing of the car...

Yeah, what does it actually cost to maintain your car per month (insurance, tax, fuel, maintainance). I know it differs a lot if you have a small or big car, but even for a small car it must be damn expensive

At least in the Netherlands, where everything is expensive
