Este wikén largo cogí para San Juan a dar la vuelta del pende ... entonces, fui al Distrito de Convenciones, donde estaba loco de ir.

Es mi segunda vez que conduzco en San Juan y me di menuda perdía, estaba en Santurce y quería ir a Hato Rey y por poco llego a Carolina, después quería ir a Santurce y llegue a Hato Rey. En Hato Rey me di la perdida del siglo, hasta que al final tuve que hacer la burrada del siglo también para llegar a Plaza xDDDDD

Pero, volviendo al tema, pude ir al Centro de Convenciones. Si no has ido, te recomiendo que des la vuelta aunque sea a mirar. El parking son $5 todo el día y son aparte del boleto de la convención que esté llevándose a cabo dicho día.

Anyway, estas fotos las tomé YO, con mi Sony Ciber-shot de 6.1 megapixels, no me las robé de flirk como hace alguien por ahí y después dice que son sus fotos, y que son las mejores. A mi entender estas fotos me quedaron mas rankias, bakanas que las que he visto, modestia aparte (excepto las que son de noche claro ... esas estan brutales jejeje), ya que las he traido con intenciones de compartir con ustedes un tesoro caribeño, y no con animos de insultar ni humillar a nadie, ni nada.

So, disfruten y no me contamines el post con fotos de otros sitios que no sea el distrito de convenciones (ya sabes que te hablo a ti ...).

Si no salen las fotos o tardan demasiado en cargar o son bien grandes, me avisan por que es que mi resolucion es bien alta y yo lo veo bien xDDD

Wow es precioso ese centro de convenciones! tengo una preguntas, es privado o del gobierno? y fue hai que se realizó los eventos de miss universo?

Es del Gobierno y cuando los eventos de Miss Universe todavia no existia jeje.

En el centro de convenciones (si, en ese) se hizo Miss Puerto Rico Universe 2007. Solamente el local, pero no el mundial. El Miss Universe que se hizo en Puerto Rico (el ultimo) fue en Bayamon, pero no se exactamente donde. Alguien que sepa ps ... digalo xD

Construction of Sheraton Hotel on schedule; second hotel request for proposal to be issued in October
Approximately $190 million in already awarded projects at the Convention Center already in permits and planning stages; to include office, residential, commercial space

If you are wondering what’s happening at the Convention Center in Isla Grande besides all the activities that have been successfully celebrated there and the construction of the $210 million Sheraton Hotel by investors Fred Sánchez Jr. of Interlink Group, Toñito Muñoz of Muñoz Holdings and Vadim Nikitine of Commercial Centers Management and the Starwood Hotel and Resorts & Worldwide (that will operate the hotel under the Sheraton flag), there is much more in the pipeline, which represents an extra $190 million investment in the area.

Manuel Sánchez Biscombe, executive director of the Convention Center District Authority, told CARIBBEAN BUSINESS there is also construction by Mora Development Corp. of Plaza, 100 residential units with an approximate $60 million investment, which should be ready by summer 2009.

Also with an approximate investment of $60 million is the World Trade Center, which will consist of 216,000 square feet of office space and 32,000 square feet of commercial space. The bid was awarded to Urban Revitalization Group. The 75,000-square-foot project, currently in the design, permits and financing phases, will incorporate a trade center promoted by the Puerto Rico Trade & Export Co. (PRTEC) and also serve as headquarters for the PRTEC and the Puerto Rico Tourism Co.

A second residential project was awarded for development to the Katz Group with an estimated investment of $70 million. It will consist of 170 residential units and 12,000 square feet of commercial space. Construction is set for October 2008 and completion by October 2011.

Two requests for proposal (RFP) are scheduled to be out soon. The first, set for the first week of October, is for a second, 300-room hotel. “We want construction to begin no later than December 2009 and we will also be issuing an RFP for a second office tower of 200,000 square feet of office space and 12,000 square feet of commercial space,” said Sánchez Biscombe.

Regarding the 500-room—32 of which are suites—Sheraton Hotel under construction, Muñoz of Muñoz Holdings affirmed all the foundations are in and construction is on schedule, which was confirmed by Jerry Thoele, managing director of the Hospitality Division of Interlink Group, who added that the hotel should be ready by the fourth quarter of 2009.

The specifications of the hotel describe it as a contemporary urban resort with a very large open lobby that will include a 15,000-square-foot casino and an entertainment complex with a facility for live performances. It will have approximately 117,000 square feet of commercial space for shops, cafés and entertainment venues, activities and meeting rooms and some 400 parking spaces. Also included in the plan are two ballrooms, banquet and meeting facilities, a full-service spa and restaurants. On the fourth floor will be a rooftop pool with cabañas, tropical gardens and views of Old San Juan and the harbor. Mimicking a beach without sand, this space is designed to bring the Caribbean to the guests. The total construction area consists of 637,837 square feet.

This development alone will generate approximately 2,600 jobs during the construction phase and some 500 permanent jobs once the hotel is operational.
