You can do anything if you have enough energy. You want water? Use energy to desalinize the ocean. You want to heat things up? Use energy to run heaters. You want to cool things down? Energy for air conditioning. Dubai should be investing in research to improve solar energy efficiency so they can use the inner desert areas to make enough energy to recreate the part where people are living the way they want it.

One very important factor on Dubai being green (YES IT IS, MORE THEN ANY OF YOU THINKS) is that there is no place to dump the sewages so they treat them and the processed water is used in watering the parks and landscaping throughout the city.

BTW I love AEDAS's glass architecture, and this tower is no exception. I wish Dubai Marina had more glass/aluminium cladded towers.

Clever
All penthouses will be sold out before the start of construction for shure, and buyers will be paying the price of construction continuously.

If they can start now, the estimated completition dates looks somehow realistic, however considering the mammouth job of exclusive furnishing, 2012 is the date I'll bet for.

For $2,389,950 for each penthouse it's only $238,995,000 for the
whole tower (100 floors with one penthouse per floor). Correct me if I'm
wrong but this tower should cost at least $1,000,000,000 to build
even with cheap labor!

If Burj Dubai cost well nder a billion why should this be any different? Dubai doesnt have cheap labour, everything is cheap.

The thing is some people will be all like: "No your wrong, Sears is taller". if you get what I mean:

Clearly the Pentominium is taller.

Actually there are 160 apartments
But still I agree, at the moment this doesn't make financial sense as it will cost more than $1bn.

Actually the $800m figure for the burj dubai is only for the concrete part being built now. You then have to add the cost of the 200m (or maybe even more) steel section, all the cladding, all the mechanical stuff inside and all the interiors.
