It's hard to believe that it's being cladded already, I mean 1WTC was built over 40 floors until it saw first pieces of glass on it's facade, fair play to Dubai

I am curious to see how that mirrored band will look when more cladding is up.

http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showpo...&postcount=211

It's subtle on the renderings, but it may be a little much in reality.

a sample of cladding is being exposed to the extreme environment before the actual cladding efforts start. they said cladding will start when floor 20 is reached if I remember correctly.

This is purely a sample (VMU...visual mock up) for the Employer and Consultants to check the aesthetics. The performance mock up (PMU) was assembled and tested last year in China. If the ok is given, the facade subcontractor can then finalise orders with his suppliers.

I regret ACC's decission to go ahead with "slicing", against the recomandations of Eversendai, ArcelorMital and maybe even Hyder.

It isn't black, it's all in what is being reflected on it.

well, there is this other smaller tile of glass(?) right next to it on the lower left hand side, which appears to be blueish. Are they deciding one the appearance on site as Bramble pointed out?

Glass on large mock up is dark grey and small piece of glass at the side is blue, azurelite

I personally like the black better - to be different. there are plenty of other towers with azure blue glass.

Let's hope they don't forget to waterproof the building!
