piling in full progress, and they will testing the piles soon

thanks for True Blue :

This is a revolutionary design in this tower. I don't expect they are required for load testing as this can be done more easily with a portable unit.

I am guessing that it is to help fine tine the damping system and to provide valuable data to ensure the load limits are not being exceeded by wind forces, lever arm (moment) being transferred to the piles.

In exteme circumstances when there is a big gust of wind trying to blow the tower down some of the piles may be acting in tension to resist this over turning load. So when in tension the remaining piles farthest from the windward elevation, will now be holding up the weight of the entire building on their own. It would be handy to know if this situation is developing or if the piles are/ or have reached their limit state.

This is a very tall and slender design which is pushing the boundaries of technology. Data from these cells will prove if the engineers have got their sums correct or not

They haven't started yet. First they'll have to build the slurry wall. They should start with that soon.

They don't do slurry wall there, because there is no body of water nearby plus that contractor has never used that technique in any of their projects in Dubai that we have seen.

Continuous piling technique (or something similarity named) is used instead.

Is the slurry wall finished yet?
Because I haven't heard from it a while.

Wow, don't know how I missed this thread! This building sounds like a nice place to live, although I get the impression it must be a very expensive place - each resident gets a whole floor!! I like the architecture too, it's simple yet still distinct.

Seriously, if you would take a minute to actually read the thread or at least the most recent pages instead of rapidly posting in every single project thread you would have your answers.
